Travelling People / Newly found travelling family Brinkley.
« on: Friday 16 February 24 02:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hi , I have found a new second cousin and we are working together . She was bought up being told her gt gt grandmother  Annie Alice nee Brinkley lived in a caravan and was from a travelling family .
My second cousin DNA on ancestry gives her 3  % Romani so it seems the family story has truth to it . I have now found a possible link to the family o. His son in law James Mill was a hawker and Charles a traveller on daughter's Annie's marriage cert .Dated Nov . 1891.
have found a Charles Brinkley who I think is correct in the 1881 census . He and his wife are living in The Folly Caravan  .
There are a few James Mills and before go too far down the rabbit hole is there anyone who can give me some Romani history and where we go from here to have any proof and social history . The family appears to have settled in Edmonton London .
A witness name was Lydia Franklin I think née Welch . Thanks Fred .

Lanarkshire / New research into Scottish family . Luife/ Love . Govan .
« on: Wednesday 06 December 23 02:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hi , I have moved away from my parents family and onto my in laws . I am a total novice in Scottish history . I do have a tree which takes my Love family in Govan / Greenock to 1555 and Sir Robert John Luife. It is mentioned he is a “ Prince of Scotland “ .
His father …. I think was Rev.Father William of Glasgow and mother Lady Margeret Pudzean/Podstene 1531-1613
. I may have that wrong
. There is mention of Johniss Luife and Margeret Douglas . I see the name became Love and both my daughter and grandaughter have it as their second names .
I don't understand the description of Sir Robert and in more recent times the family were very poor living in the Greenock area of Glasgow with never a mention of higher births all those years before . I have to admit I have just copied other peoples trees so that is why I need to get a better understanding of Scottish names and heiracy . If Sir Robert John Luife was a Duke who bestowed this on him and did he keep it . I have googled infomation but I am really quite blank . Thanks for any help or pointing me in right direction . Fred .m

Armed Forces / Soldier in 28 th Field Regiment in India/ Burma .John White .?
« on: Friday 18 August 23 23:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi all , I am writing to ask if there are military lists with soldiers names available from WW2 . I have discovered a close relative John White Born Bills Quay Durham , in 1906 to Joseph White and Mary Ann nee Wilcox was in the Royal Artillery during World War 2 . We have been led to believe he received the Burma Star but since speaking to another relative they said he was in India . I did a google search which said the Royal Artillery was in both India and Burma . I am not sure which regiment he was in . I am a member of Ancestry but nothing is forthcoming . Is joining  Find my Past the answer ?
I am an absolute amateur in regards to anything military but am happy to do my own searching if pointed in the right direction .  Thanks for any help . Fred .

Hi , I am in a bit of a quandary which may be solved if I find the death of Mary Elizabeth Jutsum baptised in South Molton on 28/12/1801 to parents William and Mary Jutsum .
I then possibly have the same parents William and Mary baptising another Mary Elizabeth ( 14 th Oct 1803 ) in St James Piccadilly. London .
If sks could point me in the direction to find Mary1st.death between 12/1801 and 14/10 1803 it would cement the relationship factor for me . I am happy to do the look up if put in right direction . Ty Fred

Devon / Jutsum visit to Devon 2023 . Please delete . Doubled up .
« on: Saturday 11 March 23 21:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi , I am visiting Devon UK in June 2023 . I am looking into my Jutsum family . My connection is John Jutsum the Keeper at St Thomas Apostle . His birth and parents are unknown but he died 1800 and is buried in St Thomas Apostle graveyard with his second wife Mary nee Skinner Jutsum who died 1817. I have found mention of him in The Flying Post .I
would like advice as how to find if the gravestone is in existence? The Jutsum family is in the South Molton ,North Molton area but my John married Elizabeth Townson in Cullompton.  They had a son William Cook Jutsum 1771 who went with his family to London and established the Jutsum family I know today .He is not the John Jutsum born in 1734 .  Thanks . Fred
I would love any ideas for my visit .I am only there for a few days . Thanks .

Devon / Jutsum visit to Devon 2023 .
« on: Saturday 11 March 23 20:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi , I am coming to Devon June 2023 from NZ in search of my Jutsum ancestry and families . I am looking for the parents of John Jutsum d. 1800 buried in St Thomas Apostle with his wife Mary nee Skinner Jutsum who died 1816 .
I would like to find the actual gravesite if anyone can point me to the right connection there .
I have not found John Jutsum the Keeper parents yet but as soon as I do I will be trying to visit  their village . He is not the John Jutsum born 1734 . The timeline doesn't allow for three wives while he is having so many children with wife Ann …… well let me rephrase that ..it is unlikely .
I would love to meet up or connect with any Jutsum from down in Devon to try and find more out about the families there . Thanks for any ideas . Fred
