Is anyone close to the LMA that could do some research there please?  I am hoping to find Bastardy documents for 1915-1917.  Thank you.

This is my second picture I am hoping someone will be able to restore for me.  This one is of my grandparents, Lily Rosina Norris and Benjamin West.  Possibly taken about 1910-1920-ish?  Again in Edgware  Middlesex England.   They are at some kind of market stall,  On my photo copy it looks like a stand with potatos or apples maybe behind them. plus baskets of veg and potato underneath the stand.

The basket? or barrel? on my grandfathers right has something hanging over the side, maybe wax papers to protect the veg? or a cloth maybe?  The boy (maybe Benjamin's younger brother Ernest Edward, he was an errand boy in 1911 census) is holding a basket of assorted veg i think.

The market, if that is what it is, seems to go back quite a ways, with other stands of vegetables and fruits on them.  I love the old scales that is in front of my grandmother!

So another impossible restoration task that I am hoping someone can find possible!!

Well this might be Mission Impossible,  But I  very much need help to restore these old pictures that were emailed to me.  This first one of my mother, Ruby West, born 1912 in Edgware England.  My mum is in the girl guides here, (bottom right in group) age about 10 so date taken about 1922 in England.

I think they are around a bird bath and the background would be trees?.  But am not positive.  I don't mind cracks in old photos, I like them actually, is all part of the history of it.   However, this photo is too damaged. It was ripped right down the middle so my sister taped the back of it, in a couple of places.  But the tear goes right through the faces of the two people standing and I cannot see their faces at all.

Would it be possible for anyone out there who is clever at restoring photos, to take out the two big cracks in this picture and the tear marks on the girl guides dresses please? It is also a bit blurry and  dark but I don't think anything can be done about that.  I will post my other picture request after this one.  They are only photocopies, but they mean a lot to me.  Thank you for your help.

Canada Lookup Request / QUEBEC ARCHIVES

Does anyone have access to the Quebec Archives?

I very much need a civil marriage, and a death.  These cannot be found in church records, I have hunted and hunted for a few years now.  Being from 1870-1875  these records, apart from the church, should have been also registered with the Quebec courts.  So I am hoping that the Archives would have copies of them.   Thank you.

Armed Forces / 1st Middlesex Regiment.
« on: Thursday 07 March 13 16:10 GMT (UK)  »
Would you happen to know, when a person is in the 1st Middlesex Regiment, does the 1st mean the 1st Battalion?  If not, how do i find out which Battalion he is in?  I have his army papers from Ancestry.

My Arthur John West was also in the  Argylle and Sutherland Highlanders and went to officer school there in Stirling I think it is.  Would Arthur being in officer school be why he was in the A S H?  as he was born in Hampstead.

Arthur was in India from 07-13 as far as I can tell.  Is there any way I can find out where in India he was from 1910 to 1913. It does not tell me in his army papers i have from Ancestry they only go from 07 to 09 for list of where he was in India.  He was back in England in 1913.

Thank you for your time and help.

Family History Beginners Board / Greetings!
« on: Tuesday 29 June 10 19:23 BST (UK)  »
Just wanted to say hello to everybody from the new girl on the block!  I am in Barrie, Ontario Canada. Is about an hours drive north of Toronto. Have been doing my different trees for quite a few years now, off and on like one does.  I stumbled into the general chat room this morning, I found fun, friendly, helpful people, I enjoyed the chat, so I came back! :D
