World War One / 1/7 Battalion Hampshire Regiment

Recently discovered my grandfather was in the 1/7 Hampshires before his transfer to the 1/4 in Mesopotamia in 1916. Can anyone help with information about the 1/7 Battalion before the war or between 1914 and 1916?

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Whitfields in Damerham

I'm looking for the parents of John Whitfield born in Cranborne Dorset about 1786. I think one of his children was a Susannah and I have come across a marriage in Rockbourne Hampshire between a John Whitfield of Damerham and a Susannah Barter of Rockbourne. Could these be Johns parents? County boundaries in this area make research quite difficult with Dorset, Wiltshire and Hampshire all adjoining in the area. Does anyone have any clues?

Dorset / John Whitfield born about 1786

I am fairly confident my great great great grandfather was a John Whitfield living around the Hampshire/ Dorset border and married to a Mary in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. I am pretty sure he is in the 1841 census, piece 397, book 21, folio 17, page 19 living with wife Mary and their younger children George and William. In the next census Mary is living with some of their children so I assume John is dead by then. I am hoping someone can help me find out about John and Mary's lives pre 1841 and perhaps their parentage?

Armed Forces / John O'Leary 102nd Regt of Foot

I watched the Billy Connolly Who Do You Think You Are last night and it prompted me to revisit my research into John O'Leary born about 1837 in Ireland. He was described on his Marriage Cert to Rosina Taylor in 1873 as a Private in the 102nd Foot. The marriage took place on the Isle of Wight where I believe the regiment was garrisoned for 6 years after returning to Britain in 1869. This Marriage Cert is the first document I have found relating to John suggesting he was stationed abroad during previous decades. Is there any way of checking his whereabouts and if he, like Billy Connolly's ancestor, was with the 102nd Foot (Royal Madras Fusiliers) during the Siege of Lucknow?

I am trying to find out more about Mary Sackett who was married to Richard Fowler 30th March 1752 in St Lawrence Thanet. I'm afraid this is all I know about her and would love to find out anything else particularly her parents and DOB.

I am trying to find out more about an ancestor John Fittall born about 1790. He was married to an Ann and in the 1841 census he was living in Sibertswold with their children James, Emley and Joseph.

Class: HO107; Piece 470; Book: 4; Civil Parish: Sibbertswold; County: Kent; Enumeration District: 13; Folio: 4; Page: 5; Line: 13; GSU roll: 306865.

This is the only information I have been able to find. Can anyone help with anything further about John and Ann.

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me to discover the family of William Clements born about 1812. He died in Canterbury in 1840 aged 28. He was married to Elizabeth Evenden and they had several children who all died young but I have no clues as to his parentage. A Thomas Clements was a witness at their wedding and there is a possibility of a close relation John Clements. He lived with Elizabeth in Castle St, Canterbury where she continued to live after his death. At the time of their marriage in 1833 they were both of the parish of St Alphage.
Hoping someone out there can help.

Derbyshire / Samuel Haigh born about 1791

I have come to a full stop on a line of my family research with Samuel Haigh from Derbyshire. The earliest mention of him is in the 1841 census where he is living in Padfield with wife Hannah and family. In the 1861 census Samuel's date and place of birth is 1791 in Marple and Hannah's is 1796 in Chindley.
I would love to find the parents of Samuel and Hannah.
Can anyone help please?

I am trying to find out more about John Smithies who was born in Lindley about 1814. His wife's name was Amelia or Emily but I can't find a marriage record for them.
Can anyone help with this or John's parents please?
