Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Arkengarthdale Chapel photo date please
« on: Sunday 20 September 20 13:16 BST (UK)  »
Please would someone be able to date this photo. It was taken outside Arkengarthdale Chapel in the Dales of North Yorkshire. My interest here is the “Hird” family, several of which are named in the photo. In particular, front row, 3rd from left is “Nellie Hird”. I am wondering if it is the same “Nellie Hird” who was born in 1891. I thought the photo looked older than for someone born that year.
If It’s not her then it would be another Nellie Hird in the same family, maybe a previous generation.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Burial / Cremation whereabouts
« on: Tuesday 08 January 19 21:18 GMT (UK)  »
I have been trying to find a burial or cremation for 5 years or more now and have just hit a brick wall. Hannah Horton died a widow age 60 on 24 April 1917 at her home 47 Lauriston Rd, Hackney. I have been trying to find a record of where she was buried or cremated but have had no luck. If anyone is able to find out I would be grateful.
Thank you

I have problem currently with my computer and am unable to open ancestry members pictures. I use windows 10 if that's any help to anyone who can advise me.
I go into the gallery and am able to see the thumbnail pictures but the main picture does not appear, just a tiny black square with a cross within. See attached pic.
Any ideas please.
Sue

Technical Help / TV KODI
« on: Tuesday 13 December 16 17:13 GMT (UK)  »
I really am a digital dinosaur and would like some advice on the KODI which I think goes on an Amazon fire stick.
All I understand or I think I understand is that it is a kind of App that goes on the fire stick. Is there anyone out there who can tell me what it is supposed to do and if I can watch BT sport on it (being a current BT subscriber). I am trying to work out if I should buy one or not.

Would someone be able to help by making a change to the shade on the girls side of her face and neck. The lighting seems to have made those parts much lighter than the rest of her face and I was hoping the lighter bits could be made to blend with the darker colouring on the front of her face.

Black and white in the first instance please but a try with colour and sepia would be interesting too.

The Yeates family are from Worcester where this picture was originally taken in the 60's, but now spread in various places here in the UK and other parts of the world including US.

Thank you

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Place identification please
« on: Tuesday 05 April 16 22:49 BST (UK)  »
I am hoping someone may be able to identify where this picture was taken. We think it is in York or possibly Malton. Could that be a pub the men are sitting outside and looks like the end of a name for the chemist next door. Anyone recognize the street?

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Dating a Birthday Card please
« on: Monday 11 January 16 22:33 GMT (UK)  »
I wasn't sure if this would be the right forum for cards but I couldn't find another more suitable.

I have two birthday cards from my deceased step-mums papers. I was hoping someone would be able to date them please as they were not in envelopes with the date on.

Also i notice the name on one is "Uncle Lodge" well that is how I read it. Has anyone else heard of this name before or know what it is short for. Could it be a surname?
