The Common Room / Pharmaceutical Journal
« on: Monday 29 June 20 11:31 BST (UK)  »
Wondered if anyone could tell me how to find/access a copy of The Pharmaceutical Journal issued in 1935?

Their current site only contains issues back to 1999.

Any help would be appreciated.

Technical Help / e-mail
« on: Wednesday 20 May 20 17:48 BST (UK)  »
First I have no technical knowledge of computers, my son always deals with all this but we are on
lock down and he is miles away.
My problem is that I subscribe to a well known Genealogy site, do not get notification when they are about to take my subscription and no other e-mail contact even though I have ticked the necessary boxes to receive info. Note emails are not going into spam or junk.

I sent them an email asking why, they now say that before they can forward my complaint I must clear cache and cookies and view e-mails on chrome to see if any email they send works.

My e-mails and other things are connected to my lap top.
I will not be doing as they ask.

Can anyone explain why I have received their emails about my complaint but have not received others prior to this?

Bet you all think this is a stupid question but please help.

Wondered if anyone has a copy of:-

The Domesday of Crown Lands: A Study of the Legislation, Surveys, and Sales of Royal Estates under the Commonwealth by S J Madge 1938

Before I purchase a copy of the above book, wondered if anyone has seen it and does it contain
detailed information re Land Sales, in particular re Cowbit, Lincolnshire.

Many thanks

Derbyshire / Images of Derbyshire Parish Registers
« on: Saturday 08 July 17 11:41 BST (UK)  »

Sorry to return to the subject of images of Derbyshire Parish Registers which have been available to view at home on Familysearch.

After my last post the images did become available again for some weeks, but were not available so I again asked Family search if this was a glitch or permanent?

This is their reply:-
"The contract negotiations with the custodian of the Derbyshire Parish registers now stipulate that these records be made available only through a local family history center.  Here are the parameters for viewing:
The message:
These images are viewable:

When using the site at a family history center.
If patrons use a family history center computer, they can see the images. They cannot simply be in the center using a personal laptop or handheld device. They should not sign in to If they sign in, they will not see the images."

So no point clicking on the camera icon re Derbyshire Registers, think this is very sad loss of a free resource.

They should be available on Ancestry next year.

Derbyshire / FAMILYSEARCH.ORG problems with viewing images of Parish Registers
« on: Monday 13 March 17 10:32 GMT (UK)  »

I wonder if anyone else is having problems with viewing images of Parish Registers on this site.

In the past I have view images of i.e. Duffield, Derbyshire Parish registers, this after registering
my name and e-mail address and then clicking on the small black camera on the right of the results screen.

When you click on this image now you get the following message:-
These images are viewable at
At findmypast. By clicking here you will be leaving (fees and other terms may apply).
To signed-in members of supporting organizations.
When using the site at a family history center.

Am I doing something wrong?  and who are "members of supporting organizations"

Family History Beginners Board / Which church
« on: Monday 25 April 16 19:41 BST (UK)  »

Wondered if this site will assist with your research, by using the year, quarter, volume number and page from Civil Registration - Marriages  you can discover the church where the marriage took place not just the Civil Registration District.

The Lighter Side / Don't They Drive You Mad
« on: Tuesday 31 March 15 22:00 BST (UK)  »
Do let me know what you think of this:-

I recently discovered that Ancestry had a missing Census Image, so I sent them an e-mail
giving Census Date, Reference Numbers, Names.  I thought they would just add the image
on their next update.

The reason I knew there was a missing image was because they had transcribed additional names
which did not appear on the actual image.  A friend checked for me on find my past and confirmed
the fact that an image was missing.

However I have now received a request from Ancestry to supply a connection to the page concerned
and instructions how to do this.

Do you think their staff are not trained on how to search their own web site? Or is it another case
of people not actually reading e-mails.

Or am I getting more like Victor Meldrew - I DON'T BELIEVE IT!

London & Middlesex Resources / London Marriage Licences 1521-1869
« on: Sunday 22 February 15 21:24 GMT (UK)  »

Thought I would post connection to the book of London Marriage Licences, in the hope it will
be of assistance to someone.

The search, at least on my computer, is not good so best to check the index at back of book.
