Hi all,

Greetings from a rather wet and windy Denmark

My question is, is there any way I can look up obituries and other items such a marriage announcements etc online in the local newspapers of Blackburn or any other area from the 1900,s onwards.  I am aware that I can access the British newspapers with my library number but this is only up til 1900 and the nearest newspaper ares is preston .....  I am coming to Blackburn in October so would be able to use the library then but am hoping I do not have to wait that long......

Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully recived.

Family History Beginners Board / Census Ref Numbers
« on: Sunday 07 August 11 15:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi All !

Well after quite a considerable break from my Ancestry Research, I have decided  to give it another go...

My question is, I have a problem with a census sheet in that I cannot make out the address or the ward, I can vaguely remember a web site that had all the reference numbers and could pin point the street name and are but cannot for the life of my remember, I have swapped computers so it is no longer in my favorites.....

Can anyone help me please, its in Blackburn, Lancashire if thats any help.

Many thanks.

Baptism of Jane Pickup born circa 1865 in Parwich, Derbyshire.  (She may also come under the name Mary Jane)

Parents are John and Sarah Pickup.

I have looked everywhere to try and trace the birth or baptism of the above with no luck  ???

Any help would be most grateful.  I have found them on the 1871 Census and they have moved to Blackburn.

Thanks in advance

Lancashire / Blackburn Cemetery
« on: Monday 01 November 10 14:12 GMT (UK)  »
After a trip to the UK last week, we spent quite some time in Blackburn Cemetery looking for ancestors.  I have a map of the cemetery and have mastered the art of finding the correction letter section to search but one thing is still confusing us......how on earth do you work out which is which line number, for example D2011 (grave reg) line 4 grave 30.   Do the numbers of the lines start from the beginning of the letter group or the beginning of the land if there are more than one letter sections ?  And, counting the grave numbers is it from left to right or right to left ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
