The Common Room / Baptism Ages
« on: Sunday 04 April 21 13:40 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

Would it be out of the ordinary for some one born in Ireland in 1833, to be baptised in 1838?

I can only find one match that fits names and it gives these dates.

Just wondering if im going wrong with it.

Hello, Could anyone help me with this.

I have recently been helping to clear up an abandoned graveyard and am learning about the different grave layouts and designs, A few graves have Headstones and Footstones, but have found a few with a coffin shaped slab on the top, can anyone tell me what this slab is called?

Thanks

Monmouthshire / Siloh English Congregational Chapel Abersychan
« on: Tuesday 02 April 13 17:45 BST (UK)  »
Hello All.
Hope this is ok posting here, but not sure where else to turn.
Researching my tree as many know on here, but am also interested in local History. Recently visited this Chapel, Well i say Chapel but its really just a graveyard as the chapel was taken down in 1973.

When i visited the chapel i was shocked to find it was very overgrown, and has been used as an area for flytipping. To my knowledge this is the worst kept Graveyard in the Pontypool area, Even some locals (26 yrs in the area ) didnt know it existed. My point is that i am trying to find out who owns this land now the church has gone?  Their are childrens graves here, as well as a Llanerch Victims Grave(s).

Would anyone have any idea as to who owns this plot of ground? I have contacted the local Council, Councilors, Park Estate, even waiting on a reply from our MP. The Councilor has tried Land Registry 4 times, to no avail. Attached photo is of the Entrance. :-[

Ireland / Surname Help
« on: Thursday 11 October 12 17:13 BST (UK)  »
Hello

Im going through the records on Ancestry, without much luck. The Family i am looking for are known to me as Falvey. This isnt turning up with many results for the year i am after ( 1833) Could anyone tell me if i should be searching for a Gaelic variation of the name for that time ? I am after a Patrick Falvey born 1833 (ish ) and his father was Michael Falvey. Only proof i can find of the man existing is his wedding cert in Wales 1853.

Sorry but iv no proof where he was born, just hearsay, ( Cork / Tipperary ) Wondering if im searching for the wrong names.

Thank You.   Darren
