Scotland / Bigamy
« on: Monday 03 January 11 23:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

My Great Grandfather and his wife were both convicted of bigamy in 1926 as they had both remarried.

How would they have found out they were all ready married as it was years later they were both convicted? What would happen to people convicted of bigamy and is there anyway of finding out what punishment they would have been given?

Any help would be great :-)

Thanks

Laura

Hi

My family (Lorimer family) owned a farm called Balnamoon in Grange, Banff up until just before 1900s.  I just wondered if anyone knew whether it was still there?

Thanks for your help  :)

Scotland / Illegitimate child ww2

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help me please?

Could anyone tell me how I would go about finding out more info on a child (girl) my Gran had during ww2 while she was a wren in Fife area, my Gran came from Stirlingshire.  The child was born illegitimately and from what i know my gran was sent away to a Salvation Army somewhere to give birth and the baby was left with them.

I am not sure what the girl was named and i am not even sure what her surname would have been as my Gran was married to my Grandad at the time.

If anyone could give me any suggestions that would be great :-)

Thanks

Monaghan / Corbett, Ballybay, Co. Monaghan

Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help me as I have come to a total standstill with my Irish ancestors  :(.  The furthest back i can get is the Irish 1911 census.

The details I have found out so far is:

My great great Grandad, Thomas Corbett c1864 married Anne (Annie) Jane Ross c1864 in Ballybay County Monaghan in 1892.  The stayed in Corrabofin, Ballybay and had several children,  William Corbett, Thomas Corbett, Samuel Corbett, Lizzie Martha Corbett and Ellen Jane Corbett.

Two of the children William (my great grandad) and Thomas moved to Scotland and had a family. Which i have managed to trace.

I just can't seem to get any further info on my Irish ancestors.

If anyone could help or advise me that would be great as i am just new to this.

Thanks ;D
