Hi,
Are there any family members of the above couple please about.  Their daughter Isabella Stevenson aged 26 was married to John McArthur, aged 28 son of Duncan McArthur and Margaret Smith (according to what is on the marriage certificate) 2 December, 1856 at Cambuslang. Both were working at Cathcart at the time of marriage. . They immigrated to Australia a fortnight later. Havent been able to find Johns birth in a parish register to date and have checked the censuses.  No marriage has been found for his parents Duncan and Margaret either.

Thought I would see if any luck on the Stevenson side.  I have census of the Stevensons Think John Stevenson was a invalided soldier.Haven't any details of that as yet..  Have been searching for over 30 years, but records are becoming released all of the time. I havent advanced any though, so far.
Thanks

Dublin / PLACE family of Dublin Ireland and surounds
« on: Sunday 16 September 12 05:57 BST (UK)  »
Looking for any family belonging to the Place family of Dublin, Irleand c 1780s. Trying to connect to Alexander Place Linen Draper/Merchant or any of his family.  think he may be a relative of George Place the miniature painter whose fathe was a linen Merchant of dublin.  that George went to live in Lucknow, India and died there in 1805. I have a 4th GT GF whom I have no birth or birthplace for, but he married a Tailors daughter in Halifax, West yorkshire, 1817.  Had two sons, George Place my 3rd GT GF and his second son Alexander Lee Place.  I am led to beleive my 4th GT GF was also Alexander Lee place born c1778/1784, thogh those daes may be incorrect.  We have for a long time thought, he was the son or Grandson ofAlexander Place born North Molton,Devon, England 1735, but whose marraige or death does not show up there.  That Alexander Place parents was George and Mary Place.  Alexander was born, North Molton, Devonshire, England.  Other Place folk were born there also.  Not many. May have been reled.  I found a contract between the irish Alexnader Place and three other former Englishmen, in The Natinal Archives at kew.  It as for mineal exploration at cavan in Irleand about 1788.   I had to purchase the contract from Devon, which would indicate, I am on the right track and the Irish Alexander Place has ties with Devon.  Any ideas or help plese. I had my brothers DN A done with familytreedna and I am hoping for a match with a member of the Irish family.  Could be too that the VC winner BAsil Charles Godfrey Place may alos belong tothis family but not sure.  Basils father and Grandfther were born in Ireland
