Lanarkshire / Alexander Hastings Infant Death, Memorial Inscription Query ?
« on: Tuesday 10 September 13 21:06 BST (UK)  »
I can't seem to find  records for infant Alexander's birth and death ?

I have however found records for Thomas Baillie Hastings who passed away at only one month old in 1889.

Have his younger siblings perhaps got the name wrong on the Memorial for their older sibling and Alexander should instead read Thomas Baillie ?

PS. Alexander Snr's first wife was Marion Baillie.

Best Regards

Ron

Where Born William Hamilton Gallowayshire ??

Is anyone visiting the Mitchell Library in the near future and able to do a look up for me ?

I’ve just found the 1889 Death Certificate for my ancestor Agnes Hamilton Nee. Muir C1816 who died in the City Poorhouse, Glasgow (District of Saint Rollox ). Her parents were James Muir & Janet Smellie/ Smelie. She is listed as a widow of William Hamilton also my ancestor.

Her husband was William Hamilton C1814 and I haven’t managed to find his Death Certificate yet. I have him listed with Agnes and children on the 1861 Census in Govan, Glasgow.

I have now found William Hamilton's Death Certificate of 1869 in Port Glasgow, Renfrew. However it is a bit of a dead end as it doesn't provide his parents names and this column is blank.

Agnes & William M1837 had Seven children by 1855, 5 Boys & Two Girls, one deceased. I have only discovered Five of the childrens names so far.

James C1839 My ancestor
Janet  C1845
Walter C1850
Agnes  C1854
William B1855 Eastwood, Renfrewshire

I am therefore hoping that the Mitchell Library record can provide me with some additional information.

Ireland / Thomas McLean C1803 Ireland moved to Scotland
« on: Saturday 07 August 10 20:38 BST (UK)  »
Thomas McLean C1803, Ireland married in Edinburgh in 1826 & Died 1848 .

I'm stuck as Thomas's Marriage & Death Certificates & the 1841 Census don't give any indication of who his parents were or which county of Ireland he was born in. ???

The only other thing I can think of is if there was possibly a gravestone for him. ;)

Any information, suggestions greatfully received.

Record Of Sailing ?
