Derry (Londonderry) / Devlins of Bogside
« on: Thursday 15 June 23 18:25 BST (UK)  »
I have an image from my husbands family records showing a great uncle’s record of birth in 1865 giving his residence as as 91 Bogside. I presumed Bogside referred to an area of Derry. What would the ‘91’ refer to?

Wexford / Nicholas Brennan Davidstown born circa 1810
« on: Tuesday 08 December 20 20:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
I am trying to find information for Nicholas Brennan who died in Davidstown in 1856. He had brothers called John and Bartholomew. I have become a little mixed up between brothers and nephews. I am trying to identify his brother Bartholomew as he adopted my Great Grandmother Julia (they renamed her Johanna). Can any one help? I have attached a photo of their grave in Barntown.?
Thanks
Jo

Hello
5 months ago I bought Family Tree Maker through the Tesco Club Card scheme. The software offered 6 months subscription to Ancestry which I took up. The 6 months was added to my account. Later I bought another Family Tree Maker as a gift for someone else which I ended up keeping for myself but have not yet installed.

My question is if I install it on my second computer will ancestry give me a further 6 months or not?
It would be useful as I find Ancestry subscriptions prohibitably expensive.

Technical Help / Able to revert to old format in ancestry?
« on: Saturday 02 January 16 13:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
The first time ancestry introduced the new format you were given the option of reverting back - does this option still exist? I hate the new format and find it difficult to navigate  but I cannot find any options to change back.

Family History Beginners Board / Rectifying a major error I have made in ancestry.com
« on: Wednesday 04 November 15 21:16 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
Even though I have been researching and adding to my tree for 5 years I have now discovered I have made a major but basic error. I have linked my GGGG? Grandfather to the wrong parents and ancestors.
How do I rectify this - I need to give him the right parents ( I currently have him as the son of a cousin of his father). How can I link him to his rightful parents and ancestors without him appearing as a new member? I am sure his descendants are correct so they will need to move with him.
Can any one help? (I have also posted this in another board as I wasn't sure which would get the best response.)

Derry (Londonderry) / Isabella Mackey and Edward McGrath
« on: Monday 06 February 12 22:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All
I have been unsuccessfully searching for the marriage of Isabella Mackey and Edward McGrath. They both had links to Derry. Their marriage would have taken place before 1847. They arrived in Liverpool between 1865 and 1871 and settled there.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to find birth and marriage records.
Thanks

Occupation Interests / Dead Wall Decorator?
« on: Monday 03 October 11 21:04 BST (UK)  »
Hello
Looking up some Liverpool relations and following them through the censuses I came across 3 brothers whose occupations were
Artistic Advertisement Inspector
Bill Poster
Dead Wall Decorator - this was in 1901

Was a 'dead wall decorator' someone who painted those advertisements that you can still see on the sides of Victorian and Edwardian buildings?
I found it interesting.
