Assuming you have a better view of the design than the photo shows then it might be worth going through old mail order catalogues, no idea whose were most common in Ontario though. These can often be found on sites like archive.org .

Examples here from a Montgomery Ward catalogue:

Europe / Re: Maltese Newspapers 1860's with shipping news - Any available online?
« on: Saturday 23 March 24 16:45 GMT (UK)  »
Mentioned in the abstract of a thesis at the University of Malta on Maltese newspapers from 1839 to 1939:
https://www.digivault.eu/
Select time period as year e.g. 1861
type as newspaper
subject try the likes of malta, gazzetta, giornale
I came up with an Italian language political paper that listed shipping news on the second page, the pages are individually linked as images towards the bottom of the selected search result (not all issues have been digitised)

Did you consider looking for a marriage/engagement announcement between <your known firstname> <telephone directory surname> and<unknown first name> <your known surname> ?

The Common Room / Re: Crew Lists, Merchant Navy Ship, 1891

Thanks S_L for looking.

Yes, I’ve visited Kew and found CR 10 cards relating to my late Uncle’s Merchant Navy Service. However, there don’t seem to be any for the 1880’s/ 1890’s, sadly.

Romilly.

Have you seen Seaweed's reply concerning the whereabouts of Crew Agreements? It is reply 12 in this thread:

note the bit about Greenwich having those for the years that end in 5.

I had some success with CR10 cards which were held by Southampton Archives for Merchant Seamen who had not served beyond 1941. I don't know that much about the area but a quick rootschat search for CR10 throws up posts by others that do.

p.s. hazy memory that you can also search the National Archives catalogue using your ancestor's name and the category BT (Board of Trade), think that may have applied to the cards held there but I'm sure the National Archives provides a guide

The RCAHMS entry for Castle Menzies includes the 1902 sale catalogue for the estate including named shootings, I might take a wander on geograph in case the location of the shooting party is identifiable.

Had you tried looking for births after 1911 under Berry or Riach?
There's a record in the NRS catalogue for example:
https://catalogue.nrscotland.gov.uk/nrsonlinecatalogue/details.aspx?reference=SC45%2f16%2f1916%2f16&st=1&tc=y&tl=n&tn=n&tp=n&k=mary+berry&ko=a&r=&ro=s&df=&dt=&di=y

Wondering if a wartime pregnancy to another man might have led to the couple splitting up.

Lanarkshire / Re: Land place names in Coatbridge / Old Monkland
« on: Tuesday 20 February 24 10:53 GMT (UK)  »
Dundyvan as a placename is mentioned in 1680
https://catalogue.nrscotland.gov.uk/nrsonlinecatalogue/details.aspx?reference=GD162%2f10%2f16&st=1&tc=y&tl=n&tn=n&tp=n&k=dundyvan&ko=p&r=&ro=s&df=&dt=&di=y

There's a three part history of the Iron Industry in the Monklands spread across three issues of this journal in 1983-1984 (6.1, 6.2, 7.1). It includes mention of both Dundyvan and the Tudhope family. Whether those Tudhopes owned the lands in question or not is not specified.
https://bacs.past-view.com/archive/scottish-industrial-history?

The book the Bairds of Gartsherrie (available as a pdf online) mentions on page 77 that the works at Dundyvan were relatively short lived.

Various Dundyvan references in the OS name books, Lanarkshire volume 15 might be particularly relevant if your ancestors were connected with the works

The Lighter Side / Re: The railway revolution and its impact on our ancestors.
« on: Saturday 17 February 24 13:11 GMT (UK)  »
There's an ongoing project on the history of the development of transport, this link includes sample chapters and animations showing the year by year expansion of the railroads and turnpike roads.

https://www.campop.geog.cam.ac.uk/research/projects/transport/onlineatlas/

The third chapter includes isochrones, maps whose lines reflect the distance travelled in days at a given speed.
