I had Doris b Sep 1904 Islington 01b 190, married Herbert H BUTLER Sep 1974 Hove 18 745.
The death record is confusing as a0 it states no children and b) it gives her age as 55 and i had a tentative birth year of 1853. More research required.

I have just become aware of the above in my tree. He was born 1876 app in Switzerland and married Annie Elizabeth Jordan SHANNON in Kensington in 1899. I believe they had one child, Doris Elsie, in 1904. At some point they went to South Africa, I had a PO Box number in Bethal, Transvaal, for them. She died in 1925 and he died in 1968. Doris must have returned to the UK as she married   Herbert BUTLER in 1974.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to find any record of their stay in SA please?
Mick

Thanks for the response. My post was really to try to find out more about his chair making business.

However the children I have found birth/baptism records for are Randolph, 1843, Falmouth, Amelia 1847 Shoreditch and Alice 1859 Shoreditch. The others are Elizabeth c1834 Falmouth (mother Elizabeth Bennett), Sabrina c1837 Falmouth, Sarah c1845 Shoreditch, Jane c1850 Shoreditch, Caroline c1852 Hoxton and Harriett c1856 Hoxton.

I have been able to trace him on the census up to his death in 1895. His occupation was a Chair Maker  and he was in the Shoreditch area. At one point he was employing 8 men and 4 boys but I cannot find anything about his business. I am having trouble finding birth/baptism records for some of his children as well so perhaps he was one of those who kept a low profile. Any pointers would be appreciated.

I have the above born in 1844 in Hertfordshire and appearing in the 1851 and 1861 census. I then lose track of him other than finding, in the British India Office Deaths, the death of Stephen Winn, age 26, on the 9th January 1870 and buried on the 12th at Naini Tal in Bengal. He died of exhaustion and was a Private in the 102nd Regiment. Unfortunately I haven’t found any other evidence to link my Stephen with him. Can anyone suggest any likely source of information please?
