I have the parents and a tree going back to the early/mid 1600's with lots of branches extending all over the world.

I also have a registered One-Name Study for the Riach surname.

Have done quite a lot of things over the years to get people involved and as far as they go is a 5 - 10 minute session when I take the lead and ask them to talk about anything unusual in their trees, any problems they may have or a little session based on a theme - it does work but you still only get the usual people coming forward.

Over the years have exhausted my list of speakers to within an inch of its life and there are only so many times you can repeat a speaker or a talk.

Also we meet on a night so that limits the distance that people want to travel.

thanks for the reply.

Yes done the local history, family history, social history and other connected subjects including military history etc.

I've been the speaker sec. on and off for over 25 years and I've found that other societies are also having trouble getting good, reasonably priced speakers who want to venture out on an evening.

I'm running a little low on family history / local history speakers for a Yorkshire based family history group.

Does anyon know of any speakers that are good, reasonable and willing to speak on an evening.

I seem to have worked my way through my listings over the years and am looking for some new names to add to my new list.

Hi Ken

I have the Buckley family in the Saddleworth area for a few hundred years

One of the Buckley family ventured into Wakefield and eventually married into the Wilkinson family - my maiden name

Yesterday I went to Saddleworth and found a few headstone for the Buckley family - one was for a Gideon Buckley Kenworthy whose wife was Sarah Alice

Thanks for the quick reply.  I've been on the libindex many a time but it does not give me anything more than I already know for Jimmy Mckerron.

But thanks for the place of death .

I've been to Elgin many a time as my grandparents lived just outside Llanbryde and still have family around the Lossie area.

I used to love my visits to Elgin but recent times, like most market towns, the present is not the same as the memories. 

As to the Kynoch querie,  I have no idea what the ladies first name was or her address apart from a big house just off the main road - possibly just off the corner of the junction.

I wonder does the library hold register of electors
