Hi All,

Well I thought it might be Farrar, but the " F" is bothering me why the down stroke at the end?

I wish I had some more of the handwriting, but it's just the witness signature & it's their own hand (no X)
The other witness has beautiful handwriting

I am Now in a right mess!!!

My Great-grandfathers name was Joseph Bartram Born 1856 Limehouse(I thought, well now I'm not sure)I do have the birth cert..
His Parents as I have been following were Charles Bartram b.Berwick-upon-tweed 1811 (a sail maker) who died before 1861 census, his mother Sarah Easton b. Middlesex 1817  Children. Barbara, Ann,Charles & Joseph.. Joseph is christened in Berwick 1860 5 yrs old.
1861  census, Charles has died! little Charles missing, Barbara & Ann  working in Berwick & Sarah & Joseph are in the workhouse.

by 1871 Barbara has married & Joseph is living with her back in London.

Joseph married Annie m Webb 1877, 1st child Charles, 2nd child Kate Barbara, so on Everything seemed to match up fine. I'm sure I had seen their marriage cert, obviously not, today on Ancestry's new records I found that Joseph has put his father as Joseph (Dec'd)!!!! a Sailor!!! I am in a state of shock & have been searching for any Joseph Bartram's born to Joseph Bartram & can't find one,

Could he have given his fathers name wrong? if I am on the right tree he would only have been 5 or 6 when his father died and his grandfather's name was Joseph, The witnesseson his marriage cert don't help either they are his wife's family.

I did say I was asking a daft question..lol
Thankyou for answering & the marriage record actually confirms it by what he has written all the marriages (6) on this copy
He has confirmed that they were all performed in Berwickshire Scotland
but hasn't on the christenings it just says they were born in Berwick & christened by him

Thankyou Stan, Jennifer & Janis,

Well that answers a lot Joseph & Barbara's marriage was performed by John Blackhall as all the others on the page that I have, also all of the christenings were performed by him. They probably were his parishioners
I am going to seem a bit daft here so I apologies, if he entered the marriages into the golden sq records (very kind of him for my sake) wouldn't it be the same as them getting married there..... sorry duhh! I know it sounds daft but I'm having a blond moment.
