It is York England, 2 dragoon units garrisoned the city in this period. I need to know if there were any other units there too please? Dates 1775-6 Thanks.


Yea The 16th Queen Light Dragoons were stationed there before the moved to America in 1776 i also found this link http://orbat.com/site/uk_orbats/files/6/The%20British%20Army%201775.pdf that gives every regiment location 1775-1783.But i will check again and have the information for you by Friday.

Does this mention which units were at York 1775-6 please?

Is that York in England your looking for and do you have any idea of the Regiment name i could check it then and see what i can find.

did you try that cert - was it the correct marriage ?




I'm going to order it later Shane thanks mate i  have checked the church marriage records her date of birth was down at

01/03/1882 born  at sea i think on the way to America but i think that would of been a mistake because the dates dont add up.

Hi looking for any information on my  great greatgrand dad jack Walsh who married Maryanne deady from Jerpoint i think around 1892 in Thomastown there listed in 1901 census as living in Cloughabrody Thomastown cant seem to find much about him in the records only the marriage any help would be app.I think my  great greatgrand mother was also known as marion.
