Durham / Help with finding family
« on: Sunday 11 February 24 01:39 GMT (UK)  »
I got stuck looking through Durham Archives when I came across some probated wills. One caught my attention, that of William Stonehouse Probate 1814.
William was a Farmer of Egglescliffe.
The executors of the Will were William Stonehouse and Irasel Hutchinson.
Beniferies were;
Son William
Son Joseph
Daughter Mary Morson wife of Ambrose
Daughter Sarah Kay wife of Cuthbert
Grandson William son of Joseph.
Granddaughter Elizabeth Morson

I have Stonehouses living in Egglescliffe and I have a Stonehouse/ Huctinson marriage 1704 in Hinderwell but I can not find the link.
I did find a marriage between Sarah Stonehouse and Cuthbert Kay on 18 May 1811 in Egglescliffe.

Well don't know what happened but I went back into the Archives site to get a link and all I get is a 404 page error. I did bookmark it as well and that's disappeared too.
Can anyone help get me on the right track to finding the link between this family and mine?

Edit Morson appears as the spelling for Ambrose who married Mary Stonehouse in Egglescliffe on 2 Feb 1799.

"My grandfather, grandmother and mother immigrated to New Zealand in 1952, seeking a better life after the war. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away in 1964 and my grandfather in 1970. I had only limited knowledge of their history, as my mother could only provide me with some names. However, she became interested in our family history a few years before she passed away. Now that I know the name of the school, I will try Durham Archives. Thank you for your assistance."

Thank you for the interesting read, fiddlerslass. I plan to email them to inquire about any documents related to the children's admission to the school. They may be able to tell me where these are held if they still exist.

Hi, I am trying to find out where my grandfather went to school. In 1911, his family lived at 7 Pearl Street, New Shildon. They were still there in 1921, but he was out working.
Looking for;
Edwin Stonehouse was born in 1906
Fred Stonehouse was born in 1904.
Other children still alive were
Eillen 1910 - 1919
Winifred 1913 not with family in 1921.
Any help is much appreciated

Durham / Christopher Stonehouse 1929
« on: Monday 29 January 24 00:22 GMT (UK)  »
Christopher was my Great Great Uncle who took his own life on the 4 July 1929.
I know from his death Certificate that an inquest was held at Middlesbrough on the 5th of July 1929.
I am looking for any information on the inquest.
I have tried Find My Past and am coming up with zero.
Where would I find information on the inquest?
Any help appreciated
Carol
