Ahhh I see! Thank you.
This section allows you to view all posts made by this member. Note that you can only see posts made in areas you currently have access to.
I did manage to glean the word 'Humphrey' at the end of page 2, aside from the bequeth part, can you make out any words on the next few sentences?
...Item I give and bequeathe unto Humfrey
Harper my sonne all my right title and interest with the Indenture of lease of all the
hows(es) and grounde there unto belonginge with all the proffittes and Comodities in the
same Indenture specified whatsoever they be or that I have or ought to have by vertue
of the saide Indenture of lease of and in my house called heath greene which I holde
of masterWilliam^*^ Sheldon as by the Indenture apperethe...
* There's another forename interlined here. At this stage I'm not sure what it is but I don't think it is Raphe.
There are more bequests to Humfrey after this but I have to be finished for the night.
Hopefully I can start to make out some more
With one exception, there's nothing of significance in the text from Clayton's work down to the end of the ninth line of page 2.
This exception is that he names his master as one Raphe Sheldon. In this section he doesn't say what his relation is to his master, but it's clear he holds Sheldon in high esteem.
It then continues:
...Item I
give and bequeath unto William Harper my sonne my great golde Ringe for and
duringe his liefe and the remainder thereof to Robert Harper his sonne and to his
heires males forever. Item I give and bequeath unto William my sonne uppon
the Condicions followinge all my right title and tearme of yeares with the Indenture
and bandes and the advowson of the next gifte of the vicarage of Beoley with all other
proffittes thereunto belonging in as large and ample manner as my selfe have the same
or might or ought to have the same he payinge the Rentes and duties which I ought
to doe and under this condicion that he shall paie unto Edward Haselwood of Worceter
late servannte to S(ir) William fforreste preste one yearlie annuitie of twentie six
shillinges eight pence given him by his saide master and left with me of truste which...
This takes it down to about one-third of the way through page 2.
I will make a start and perhaps you can recognize some words from this to carry on
In the name of God Amen my only maker Saviour and Reademer and thy blessed virgin Marie his mother and all the holie companie of heaven I Robert Harper of Beoley in the countie of Worcester yeoman willinge to my remembrannce they manifold giftes and great benefitts that have received at his glorious hands in this miserable and wretched world for the which I most humblie thanke him and doe acknowledge my selfe that I am not able to recompense thy ?? or leaste part thereof but am hartely sorie that I have not
This must be the same Robert Harper 20 years earlier. He was the plaintiff in a case in Common Pleas in Hilary Term, 1578.
London. Robert Harper, of 'Boelye', yeoman, versus John Russell, of Strensham, Worcs, esq, for a debt of 40 pounds
