Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1841/1851 Monmouth Census Look up Please

Hi Pritch,

Thanks for the information.  Even though David is 10 years younger than I expected, I think this is the right family.  Is it normal for the ages to be far out in the earlier censuses?

To be real pain, there isn't a Mary Pritchard/Prichard lurking around in the village is there?  She would be about 15 and on later census returns is employed as a housekeeper, so could be in service?  Do not know the area, so not sure if there were houses nearby that had domestic help.

Thanks again

I am interested in finding a David Pritchard/Prichard born c1791 (farmer/labourer) with his daughter Mary born c1826 and hopefully other family too.

The family are living in the same house in Llanbaddock in the 1861 - 1901 censuses so hopefully they are in Llanbaddock in 1841 or 1851.  The house doesn't always have a name but in the later census returns it is known as 'House by Yew Tree'.

Any information, gratefully appreciated.

Hi Geoff,

I am interested in Pritchards based in Llanbadoc (not far from Usk)! My great grandad was born there to his unmarried mother, Mary in 1858.

Channel Islands Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 census - Guernsey - Le Huray

Hi Athalie,

If you go to the following site, Lorna has transcribed the 1841 Channel Island census and you can search through and find your relatives.

I have had a quick look and there are quite a few Le Huray families living in Guernsey.  So you should find yours OK.

Hope this helps!

My Great-Great-Great Grandfather (John Atha) was a Skinner in 1851 in Leeds (Holbeck/Hunslet area), by 1871 he was a Leather Manufacturer working from Belinda Street in Hunslet and continued to run this with his son James Atha until he died in 1907.  Unfortunately, James also died 3 months after his father and I am not sure what happened to the place afterwards.

If you have any information on John or James, I would really appreciate it.

Wondered if anyone can help me?  I am trying to trace a family in the above censuses.

I am looking for a John Pritchard born in Abergavenny and should be aged approx 46 in the 1841 census.  He has a wife Martha born in Goviton who could be 12 years older and hopefully some children.  In the 1871 Census they are living in Llanover, Blaenavon.

Any information greatly appreciated.

I am trying to find my Gt-Grandfather in the 1861 Census.  He was born in Llanbaddock, near Usk in 1858 and was still living in the village in 1871.

I do not know much about him, but his mother was called Mary and she was unmarried and about 35 years old in 1861.  I think she was living with her father David Pritchard who was a farmer and probably also her mother (Mary??).

Any information on him and his siblings (hopefully a brother John aged about 5) would be greatly appreciated.  There is also another Henry Pritchard born in Monmouth in 1858 (father Theo) but he isn't the one I'm after!

Thanks, Tracy
