I also would like to know the source of this as I need to try to search the Irish records.
I beleive that Robert Dickson's father to be either:
1) Robert Dickson (Named on his first marraige certificate to Jeanie Riddell)
2) Thomas Dickson (Named on his second marraige certificate to Kate Malone) and on his death certificate
3) His fathers name was a combination of Robert and Thomas.
It is really funny that he did not name his first born after his father but called him John instead - I am still trying to track John's cert down (he was on the 1991 census as being 2. However they were married in East Kilbride where Jeanie's family lived so I am searching for this tomorrow.
His second born was called Robert. Coincidentally his first born in the second marraige was called Thomas so naming conventions are not adding up?
It would be good to know how to search the records both in Northern Ireland and in Ireland. What's the cheapest way to do this?
