England / Re: George Livock - Parents ?

Thank you for your help.  I have just gone through the family bible again and Mary Ann Shearman died 27th March 1875 aged 46 years.

On the same page as this is written is the following:-

                    "George Livock"
A gift from his affectionate Mother.

This looks to be written by the same person that noted Mary Shearmans death.

On FreeBMD it has Mary Ann Shearman listed dying June Qtr 1875 at Yarmouth, aged 47.

England / George Livock - Parents ?
« on: Saturday 29 May 10 06:55 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace the parents of my great grandfather George Livock.

My mother told me that he was given away shortly after birth (24th September, 1854, estimate re letters from Emily to her father) to a Mrs. Shearman (possible having the Christian name Mary or Ann or both).  While growing up he used her surname but later reverted to his own, Livock.  The first I can find of a George Livock, of about the right age, is in the 1871 Census at Wood Dalling, Norfolk page 4 and he was working as a Groom for Henry Ireland Jnr. (shown on page 3).  It lists his birthplace as Gunthripe Norfolk.

He married Emily Caroline Plane on 22nd December 1874 and 1876 they had triplets who didn’t survive 12 months.  They later had Gertrude Maud and Florence Sophia (my grandmother).  Emily died 3rd January 1880 in Nottingham and George left the 2 girls with their grandfather James Plane in Great Yarmouth and moved to Canada.

In Canada, George met Sarah Montgomery and they married on 2nd January, 1882 in York, Toronto where they had 5 children.  They moved to Rochester, New York where they had another daughter Beatrice.

Any help would be appreciated.
