Scotland / Re: John Swan / Agnes Cowan

I can now confirm that James Swan and Christian Greenhorn are parents of John Swan - checked on family search and Scotlands People and its all tying together beautifully. John Swan was born 1760 Polmont, Stirling, Scotland, baptised 29 Apr 1764, Larbert, Stirling, Scotland.  I also have found parents of the above Christian Greenhorn - James Greenhorn and Janet Laing (married 9 Oct 1736 Falkirk, Stirling, Scotland).

Can anyone tell me who the parents of James Swan are - above.

Ok thanks, I did not get anywhere for Alexander and Margaret Sinclair and family in 1851 census for Northumberland, England. No record found, a bit strange I know. I would love to think that Alexander Sinclair born 1792 but on ancestry.com, there is a record of thim marrying some different. Its submitted information.

William Sinclair (born 1853) married Marion Smith and Elspet Kennedy. He had a son Alexander born 1792. Who did he marry please?

I think this Alexander Sinclair married someone  in Scotland, can anyone confirm this please.

If so, I can eliminate this family as it would not be the right one.

Thanks, yes not sure who this one is. However I believe that William and family may have left stroma for tynemouth, England, possibly due to 'Battle of Trafalgar'. Grasping at straws here. A census record shows the family at Tynemouth 1841. My Alexander Sinclair is not there - possibly away at sea but there is wife Margaret (nee Kennedy), and 4 children who are correct.  I still would like to know who is the wife of William Sinclair, of Stroma, for my research.  I think Alexander was born between 1790 and 1799 as indentured 1813 with Esq. James Lyons from Tynemouth.

Hi Gadget
Yes, I have the record thanks, just rang Internal Affairs and am ordering his death certificate as it does have parents names on it as you have said.  I have not needed to order any NZ ones for genealogy so did not know this. Thanks

I forgot to say that James Wilson was a farmer in New Zealand.

I did not know that parents names were on the NZ death records but that's sure worth looking at, will enquire furthur.  James Wilson died 15 oct 1919, Clyde, Central Otago, NZ and is buried in Clyde cemetery - have checked out the records and seen the grave.
