I'd check with the museum first before searching for his RIC number. Name, date of birth, residence and parents names may well be sufficient, they were at least for me. No harm in trying anyway!!

Search the griffiths valuation on the ask about ireland website for Patrick Carmody in Oola parish who had a forge in the village. You should be able to see the location then if you can find his plot on the map.

No problem, I was in contact with someone in the museum itself in relation to my granuncle who was in the guards in the early 1920's, and although they only had a brief description of his service history, they couldn't have been nicer to deal with. Hope you have better luck!
