Hi Allan,
The year of birth was only written on a sheet of paper beside his name and that is the only information re his birth. According to a list given to me he sailed on "Richard Webb" (a convict ship) leaving England on 15 Nov 1841 and arrived in Australia on 4 Mar 1842 but haven't as yet worked out if he was a convict, crew or passenger but his occupation on that list was collier.
According to Family Search that he married Susannah Priest on 20 Sep 1844. I have a list of about 13 children - all born in Newcastle, NSW, Australia.
I haven't been able to find a date of death yet but will keep on trying.
I looked on the 1941 Census and found a George Lees b 1815 in Oldham and noticed that his occupation was coal miner so maybe that is the correct one. Not sure about the one on Lancashire parish records as he is listed as a weaver.
Thanks for your help and speedy reply.
