Hi, I think there maybe a connection. Alexander Grant 1822 was the brother of my great great grandfather David Grant 1838. They were born in Morayshire to Alexander Grant 1799 Jane Cruickshank 1799. Moving to Kilminster Wick. I have little information on Alexander 1822 other than his marriage. I do have other information I can share with you, let me know if it is the same family.
Apologises for not answering earlier.

hello Scott

I am not to sure of the information  you have given me. Are you the grandson of Davidina? Daughter of
David and Janet Mcivor.  Davidina was born Wick 1875. if so I have a lot of information on the Grant family.

If there is a connection if you send me your email address I will be more than willing to give you all the information I have.

Hi Kirsty

Thank you for your information, I am grateful but please do not use your credits its so expensive.

I have Janet on Fife 1881 census and after until her death 1914, under her married name Watters. Before that nothing, I have her son John Burt as a boarder in 1871 Fife where is she?

I have searched census, births, marriages, and death records to no avail for her parents. Until I can verify her birth I feel it would only be guess work.  I have tried various spellings on surnames, maybe a different maiden name for Gillies  or maybe she was born out of wedlock again it would be guess work.

I just feel I am missing something somewhere, and hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction.

Once again thank you for your time and trouble.

Regards

Thank you Annette for your reply.

I do have John Clark Burt 1869 as he was known (my great grandfather) birth information.  I am just having so much difficulty in finding  Janet/Jessie Clark birth details from the information I have.

Once again thank you for your help.

Could I please ask for some assistance in helping to point me in the right direction, in searching for a birth certificate?

I am searching for a birth certificate of Janet Gillies Clark born c1849 Midlothian. Fife census from 1881 state she was born in Midlothian. Her son John Burt was born in Kirkcaldy 1869 possibly out of wedlock.

Her marriage certificate to Richard Watters 1873 Beath Fife, and her death certificate 1914 state her parents as Thomas Clark (stocking weaver )and Janet Gillies. I have been unable to find a marriage certificate for her parents.

I have found similar names  in my searches on Scottish records, but unable to clarify the correct one, after two years I feel as if I have hit a brick wall and would be grateful for any help.

hi Joe

I have checked the family lair (in person) via Wick library and a day in Wick cemetery, although at the time I wasn't aware there were six siblings, but no luck there. I have searched for them both on the scottishpeoples no luck there either, but I never say never and will come across them one day.

No family rumours I'm afraid, no one left to ask, one sister did marry and go to Edinburgh, my idea was, in the beginning eight years back was to find the sisters of my great grandfather and call it a day, but  genealogy got a grip of me and I am still trying to put bits to-gether, and with a lot of help and guidance from folk like yourself I have achieved a lot more than I expected too.

When I do find Maggie and Isabella you will be the first t know.

I remain grateful for all your help advice and expertise.

hi Joe

Its not quite the end, I am still seeking information about Isabella Grant born 1872 and Margaret Grant born 1869, for which  I will keep searching, regarding the other Grant family history I wouldn't have been able to proceed so far back or gather so much information without your help and expertise, for which I am very very grateful.

Thank you and kind regards
