Nottinghamshire / Farnsfield Butlers
« on: Monday 28 March 16 12:43 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to get further back for Butlers, in the past I have researched and seem to have Baptisms post 1732, Marriages post 1763, deaths post 1766 in Farnsfield
Are records now available before those dates, particularly interested in William Butler who appears to have died 1740 as there is a tombstone reference to him in the Churchyard details on Southwell Churches website for Farnsfield
Are there any monumental pics of the churchyard for this item ?

Any leads appreciated
Chris

Hi Nottsgirl
Just got back to this, and I also would appreciate a look at the 1647 Will if you can.
I am unable to get there at present so anything of interest really useful

In the first page of this post there is information to get you back a further generation, Thomas Cumberland and Elizabeth Watkin
I also have a reference still to be researched of a will at Notts Archives of Thomas Cumberland Yeoman of Wysall Date 4 Nov 1647
Their Reference is PR/NW 79  or maybe one of the other chatters here have already seen this.
It may give more information, or confirm something

Leicestershire / Re: Elizabeth Sutton Nee? Mid 1700`s

Hello Colin
Thanks for your reply.
Both marriages are possible.
Looked on Family Search and it looks like the Woodhouse union, John and Elizabeth continued to have children beyond the re marriage date, in 1775, 1782 so at the moment leaning towards Francis Sutton and Elizabeth Wood of the Knighton marriage, Cant find any family for them in Family Search at all
Could Francis be buried as Frank ?

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Re: William Bourne of Belper and Burslem 1814
« on: Friday 20 March 15 18:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Spendlove and all
I have come across this old post whilst searching for William Bourne, I think he is the Junior you are referring to, as I have his daughter Edith marrying in 1838 to Edmund Sharp    of Sharps pottery in Swadlincote
The will Gardener links to, of William Bourne  Swadlincote, looks to me like that of William Junior, but not sure when he died, even if the will is dated 1819
Spendlove do you have the dates of William Jun (and brothers) births ?
I have not found a marriage for William junior, his wife on the will is Ann some of the children appear to be young at the 1819 date.  Later censii of Edith suggest she was born about 1816, the nearest I have found for her baptism is 1813 Methodist in Stoke & Wolstanton so could be her
Any updates greatly received

Derbyshire / Re: Burial Holmesfield or Dronfield Samuel Hopkinson
« on: Tuesday 17 March 15 19:24 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks Jeff,
These Burials from Beauchief Abbey make the story clearer, and confirms the 2 Samuel Hopkinsons for me
The death in 1814 of the older one means that Totley records dates only confirm him as being Scythe Maker plus Overseer and the younger one as the Scythe Maker and Victualler at Cross Scythes.
It would be good to find a baptism of Samuel junior to see if he is son of Samuel senior....and hence brother of our Jonathan Hopkinson
There could also be 3rd generation of Samuel as the Cross Scythes is still listed as under the occupancy of a Samuel Hopkinson until 1835
Thanks again for your information

Hi Willsy,
Thanks for this information, confirms my James Throsby as a widower and also helped with Mary Bowley as I wasnt sure of her marital status, as she had son John Bowley b 1851. so he turns out to be illegitimate.
I havn`t found the Bowley family in 1841 or 1851 but have an Aylestone baptism 1826

Hi Jenn,
I dont have Thomas Throsby 1799 in my tree but could well be related, as a lot are descended from Nicholas Throsby Alderman and Mayor of Leicester, died 1782 and has a memorial in St Martins if that help
