Mayo / Anthony Nalty born 1802 ?kilcommon Mayo
« on: Thursday 14 April 11 22:43 BST (UK)  »

We believe Anthony Nalty was born in Mayo - probably kilcommon pollatomish?
Have found records on 'family search' showing an Anthony Nalty born 1802 who dies in 1885.

We have also found records of an Anthony Nalty being the father of the children named below, but no mention of a mother's name, or maiden name!

He allegedly married someone called Ellen - can anyone clarify?

Plus, can anyone work out who his father and mother may have been?

We have heard a rumour that a Nalty first arrived in the area in the 1700's from Inishboffin,? on a mission to convert the mostly Catholic area to be Church of Ireland! Someone has suggested Anthony Nalty's ancestors may well have been something to do with Cromwell??!!

We'd also love to know if Anthony Nalty had any siblings?

We have reason to believe that he had children:
Mary b. 1828
Patrick b. 1830
Ellen b:1836
Anthony: b: 1842
Mark b:1849

I am an enthusiastic novice at all this so please forgive any blatent errors in my research!
Many thanks as always for your help, support and understanding,
Lilli

Australia / Re: Ida SINCLAIR born Ireland circa 1870's Emigrated 1900's

Hello,

Thank you for your responses.

William Beatty would have been Ida Sinclair's step dad. Apparently he remarried after his wife died - no dates, but sometime after 1876, which was When MAry Jane Beatty, his daughter, was born..

We do not know the name of the step Mum - Ida's Mum. My Gt Gran apparently never spoke of her, only to say she despised her!

She allegedly went to Australia, possibley from the UK, rather than Ireland?

She possibley lived in Sydney, which it seems is where my great Uncle may have settled.

She, as far as we know kept the name Sinclair.

She is probably several spellings of Ida/ Aida, Ada Sinclair/Stclair.

We assume that she was born in Cavan, Ireland, but seems to be no record of her.
I wsh I could give you more informatiobn.
Thanks for all your help.
Much appreciated

Australia / Ida SINCLAIR born Ireland circa 1870's Emigrated 1900's

Ida Sinclair was my Great Grandmothers half sister.

Her half sister was Mary Jane Beatty, who was born in Cavan Ireland, and her father was William BEatty a farmer.

There are variations in the spelling of both Beatty/ Beaty/ Beattie & Sinclair/Stclair/stclare

She emigrated to Australia, we believe in the early 1900's.

My great Uncle Stephen Nalty went out to Australia to live and stayed with her for some time.

We don't know where she lived; or if she married or had family.
Would love to know what happened to her.

Trying to piece together family mysteries for a family tree I am doing for my Mum.

Thank you for reading.

Best Wishes from Leamington Spa, in the UK

Australia / ~Stephen NALTY born Ireland Mayo, Was in Australian Air Force?
« on: Thursday 10 March 11 19:02 GMT (UK)  »
Greetings from the Uk.

My Gt Uncle Stephen, emigrated to Australia in the 1920'a or so we think?

He allegedly joined the Australian military - we are pretty sure it was the Air Force, but we could be wrong...

He fought in WW2 and sustained injuries; including a metal plate in his skull!

We believe he married, but had no children.

Not even sure which part of Australia he lived in.

Can any one help?

Trying to sort the family tree out for my Mum's 80th birthday!

Thanks for reading.
Best wishes,

Cavan / Mary Jane Beatty/Beaty/ Beattie born Cavan 1876
« on: Thursday 10 March 11 16:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hello I am trying to trace the ancestry of my Gt Grandma Mary JAne Beatty, or variations of.

We know she was born in Cavan in 1876, and that her father was a William Beatty/ Beaty, who was a farmer.

Possible Baileborough or Cootehill connections.

Mary Jane Beatty married Edward Nalty in Mayo.

Trying to establish who her parents were and if she had siblings.

Her mother allegedly died, and her father remarried. Who was this lady?

She had a half sister called Ida Sinclair/stclair. Who emigrated to Australia circa early 1900's

Any information on Ida Sinclair greatly appreciated also.

Can anyone help?

Thank you for reading.

Best wishes,

Lilli

Dear Obbie,

Thank you so much for all your help, it is really appreciated.

I am stunned as to what you have managed to find! You must be a very experienced Genealogist...I am a novice to all this.

I will certainly have a more detailed look atthe information you have given me over the weekend and see if I can make any more connections. I have seen some Magerty's from Barrow in Furness on Genes Reunited. These could be relations of mine. I will contact them to see if we have a link.

Wow! Absolutely amazed.

My 80 year old Dad is very excited by all this and sends his heartfelt thanks for all  your help.

Galway / Pat/Patrick Nalty Salthill Glaway c.1915 was a Policeman
« on: Thursday 25 November 10 16:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Trying to trace my family tree and hopefully find relatives.

The Pat Nalty I am after had parents called Stephen and Bridget.
Originally from Kilcommon Mayo, and born around 1907.

HE left Kilcommon Mayo around 1914/1915, and moved to salthill galway, where he was allegedly a Policeman. He married and we believe he had twin sons circa 1925-1930.

Trying to trace any living family members who would be distant cousins of mine.

Can anyone help?

Best Wishes, Lilli
