Down / Re: Glenny and Grandy families from Newry
« on: Monday 09 August 10 16:37 BST (UK)  »
my mother's grandfather was Robert Glenny, a meal merchant of Newry, and my mother was a daughter of his son Dr Robert Edmund Glenny of Clonallon Rectory , Rostrevor. In the graveyard of Clonallon there is a headstone for Joseph Glenny and his wife, Elizabeth formerly Grandy. Erected by their daughter, Mrs William Orr of Newry and son Henry of Ballarat. There is no date on the headstone. It is of red sandstone and is weathering rather badly in Irish rains.

Joseph shows as a pawnbroker in old street directories.

I have made many family "trees" but too many to put on computer - would have to post to you.

I also have information of a michael Glenny, last living in Geelong, who corresponded with me.

Let me know if you want any more information.
