Hi Shanko.  If you're still prepared to do some lookups, I'd be interested in any information about MILTE or STURTEVANT family members.

thanks,
Alan Arnold

Australia / Guernsey to Australia lookup please
« on: Saturday 03 December 05 07:24 GMT (UK)  »
Greetings from Canberra.
If anyone has access to a copy of "Guernsey emigrants to Australia 1828-1899" by David Kreckeler, I'd really appreciate finding out whether there are any ARNOLDs mentioned therein.

thanks,
Alan Arnold

Greetings from down-under  :)

James ARNOLD who married Marie MANSELL in 1802 is my g-g-g-g-grandfather.  He's as far back as I can trace my Victorian branch of the Australian ARNOLDs which looks like:

James 178? St. Peter Port - ??
- Julius 1826 St. Peter Port - 1897 Dunedin, NZ
- - Julius Mansell 1850? St. Peter Port - 1933 Kew, Victoria, Australia
- - - Bertie 1886 Northcote, Victoria - 1969 Sandringham, Victoria
- - - - Robert Mansell 1904 Richmond, Victoria - 1991 Melbourne
- - - - - Alan Keith 1928 Coburg, Victoria - 2001 Melbourne
- - - - - - Alan Peter (me!) b. 1954 Melbourne
- - - - - - - two sons

As far as I can tell, James' son Julius b. 2/1/1826 St.Peter Port and wife Eliza Perry Davis m.1849? emigrated to Christchurch New Zealand (early 1860s?) with family.   Julius d. 18/6/1897 is buried in Dunedin, NZ.

James' son Eugene John (the chemist - must be in the genes - my PhD is in chemistry ;-) and wife Elizabeth Jula Le Bas came to Australia.  Elizabeth d. 27/10/1891 and is buried in Waverly Cemetery, Sydney.  Don't know what became of Eugene. He was the informant on Elizabeth's death certificate but he doesn't seem to have died in New South Wales.

I'd be delighted to learn more about James' descendents and happy to share what I think I know.

Alan

Thanks Keith.  As it happens I just stumbled across the Sarah/Mary conundrum an hour ago myself.  If you search the following for Basham, you'll find the 4 children (ages given) and Mary but no Sarah!

Ships Muster index.  Passengers and Crew Departing NSW, 1816-1825

Greetings from Canberra Keith.  I'd like to take you up on that lookup offer.  I'm looking for a Sarah, wife of Zenophon or Xenophon BASHAM who reportedly came to our fair shores aboard the Lord Melville to join her miscreant husband who arrived in 1811.  My wife is a remote descendent of Z/X & Sarah.

see http://www.elaunceston.com/launcestonhistory/2004/basham.htm

many thanks, Alan
