United States of America / Michael Murphy
« on: Thursday 03 May 12 21:22 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
I'm looking for information regarding Michael Murphy b. Sept 1859 Westmeath Ireland.  He moved to the US and was made a citizen on 27 April, 1885 in New York. His parents were Owen & Mary Murphy.  He was back living in Ireland by 1901.  I would like to find out when he went to the US, where he lived or any other information regarding his time in the US.
Many thanks

Thanks for that CaroleW.  I appreciate your help! I have the Irish census and details of her Irish relatives, but was hoping for some information regarding her and her husband John (also called Jack) in South Africa.  I only discovered recently that this is where she emigrated to.
Thanks again

I am looking any information regarding Margaret (Peg) Murphy b. 1907 Ireland who married John Barry and lived in Durban, South Africa. I have no other information other than Margarets parents were John Murphy and Bridget Farnan from Westmeath, Ireland.  Margaret probably emigrated in the 30s.
Many thanks Anitakate

Hi Sandra.  Did a little investigation and found a Fr. Joseph C Nowlen as Pastor of the Holy Name Parish (also Dominican run) in Philadelphia in 1939.  According to that parish website he died in 1941 at the age of 45 years (which would give a dob of 1896 or thereabouts).  Really think this is him as the time lines are correct and the spelling of the name, its usually Nolan, is unusual. No info regarding more personal details, but then Rome wasnt built in a day!
Thank you for the web addresses and am certainly going to contact the church where he was ordained!
Really appreciate your help with this one!  Have been looking for anything regarding this family for years.

I couldnt see anything for my Joseph Nowlan but will have another look in case
I missed anything! I'm afraid I am very limited with the information I have regarding
him.  I did find other ancestors on another branch of the tree, so I cant thank you enough!
