Hi there, I think they may all be connected.  Most of my ancestors were Tom Castle rather than Thomas.  Do you have any Herrods way back in your family tree?

Welcome.  I have a booklet called Memories of Worksop and the Dukeries.  In this there is an advertisement for Castle & Sons, Posting and Funeral Carriage Establishment in Victoria Square, Worksop.

A Superior Open French Hearse, Mourning Coaches, and Private Broughams (whatever that was)
Large Shillibier, Small Shillibier and Cabs for Childrenīs Funerals with Black or Grey Horses

Party & Wedding Carriages.

Hope this is of interest.

I didnīt realise this thread had been updated with the photographs.  Is there any chance I could have photocopies of the photos sent to me.  Tried to print them with no joy.  I have got the family photo and the advertisements but would love the portraits.

I would confirm George Ernest Castle did have ginger hair known as Ginger Castle (my grandfather)

I have had quite a bit of information on the Nottinghamshire site so looking to see if anyone on this site is also looking.
My father was Tom Castle and his father was George Ernest. 1700 - late 1800īs.

Anyone any knowledge of the Castle family linked with Grantham.  They were carriage builders.

I also have a copy of the Newark Herald of January 1885 reporting on the death of John Castle who committed suicide by hanging in Lombard Street.  Sad end.
