Monaghan / Re: John McGough Born .c. 1820
« on: Tuesday 22 February 22 10:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, just read your post from 2021. My great grandfather Hugh McGough gave Aghnamullen, Monaghan, as his birthplace on the 1881 England census in Manchester, Lancashire. So far I have not got any further back than that.

Have you managed to find any birth/baptismal records since your post?

I should have mentioned Hugh was born 1849 and married in Dundalk 1871 and arrived in England some time between 1871 and 1881. His obit mentioned that he was employed by a Manchester  tailor for 60 years, so I assume that he arrived pre 1879.

Hello Auntie Gene,

I was just searching any posts concerning Barbados, wondering whether anyone had found access to Barbadian records. Did you have any luck?

I am curious about a second cousin who married a Barbadian (1968) in Blackpool, Lancashire, and is mentioned in her mother's probate grant (1986) with an address:The Mount Development, Barbados.

So sorry I forgot all about this post. Thanks to everyone who replied. Think you are spot on with the year/s Alan o. The subject (T. E. Crossley) was I believe at home on leave in Manchester at the time of the photo. If I have found the correct record,(Silver Badge Medal Card), he was in the Royal Engineers. The photo is from a glass plate, he was an amateur photographer.
