My great grandfather ( Davids dad ) was called ROBERT JAMES LOWRY and his mum was CATHERINE KILLOPS...

So, is this the marriage of your gt grandparents - 10 November 1905 at Killyleagh 2nd Presbyterian Church? Fathers John Lowry and Hugh Killops, both labourers.

My Great Grandfather John (Sean) O'Neill (born Wicklow 1874) married Elizabeth Crossan (born 1875 Co.Offaly)and they lived in College Street, Carlow. They had eight children Thomas (1898), Elizabeth (1900), John (1902), Marianne (1903),Theresa (1904), Catherine (1907), Joseph (1910)and Peter (1915).

Some of these dates are a little out, and they had 9 children (although 1911 census says 8 born, 7 still living so maybe 10).

There's a hint for an 1872 birth in Claremorris, although I will disregard this as I already have the birth in Castlebar.

Then there is a death of a William Murphy in 1945 in Claremorris (a birth about 1872) - presume thats the chap above.

Indeed!.....that William Murphy (who died in 1945) passed at Caraun.

Could I just ask, are the places Ballyhaunis and Claremorris in the Castlebar localityas there are some events recorded here but I am unsure as to whether they are near enough to consider?

Both Claremorris and Ballyhaunis are separate Superintendent Registrar's Districts and are a distance from Castlebar.

See them on https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/6892946#map=11/53.7840/-9.0163 and note their distance from Castlebar.
