Have you looked for him on the 1881 census?

Egremont came under Whitehaven RD & there is a birth in the Dec qtr 1875 on freebmd which may be his.  If so his mothers maiden name was Dumagan as per GRO online

There is an 1857 marriage on freebmd of Charles Lowther & Susannah Dummigan

There is this 1881 possibility as he named his son Charles

1911 census shows her as a widow with a 10yr old daughter Gertrude Pitt.  Gertrude was b September qtr 1901

Although his death cert won’t show where he was buried - it will give his exact date of death.  That info should help if you decide to contact the records office for burial info
