Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: Walbran family

Thanks very much. It is my Henry Walbran, I am sure because of the occupation and age. Unfortunately he's by himself in the census so there's no clue from family etc.

Thanks. The parents of Blythe Rigeway Sparrow, George Sparrow was born Sandbach 1842 and his parents were William Sparrow B. 1806 and Mary Arden 1809. His mother was Eliza Rosson b. 1843 St Albans and her parents were Thomas Rosson b. 1815 and Hannah Barrington b. 1807.
My suspicions were that the Ridgeway name came from the Rosson side of the family, but so far I can't get beyond Thomas Rosson.

Thanks. The other family forenames used in the Sparrow family were - Barrington, Acton, Manley, Arden, Rosson, as well as Ridgeway. I've got leads all except Ridgeway and Acton.

Lincolnshire / Re: Bromfield/Chapman Name Interest

I have a Stephen Bromfield b. 1850,  Southampton, parents Henry Bromfield / Eleanor Gray. The Lincolnshire connection is that he married Sarah Ann Pearson ( my line ) b. 1862  Freiston. In 1883 he was a witness at the marriage of William Pearson brother of Sarah Ann, also from Freiston. Any connection ?

I have a Blythe Ridgeway Sparrow b. 1881 in Basford.  Parents George Sparrow / Eliza Rosson. Any connection ? It would be of great interest to know where thr name came from.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Walbran family

I have lost the thread in tracing Henry Walbran back to his origins. He is recorded in the censuses as born in Snape in abt 1815, and from his death in Leeds in 1879 I can go back to 1871 census in Leeds, the 1861 census in Leeds, the 1851 census in Leeds when he was a policeman, to his marriage in Leeds in 1844, where his father is given as John Walbran a gamekeeper.

Then the track goes cold and I would just love to find him in the 1841 census.  Has anyone got any ideas on how to find him ?

Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: Marriage c1827 Hastings

I have also been following up John and Constant Stonham. My interest is through the son George Cloke Stonham and his daughter Emily and my fathers' side of my family.
John Stonham seems to have died between the baptism of  the son Abraham Stoneham 4.06.1839 -  John & Constant- and the last child Constant Stoneham 19.08.1840 -    Constant (Widow ) - although I have not found any reference to his death.
Constant and her family were in Hastings Union Workhouse, Ore in 1841.
Constant married James Peters a Widower, Fisherman, residence as St. Clements, Hastings and his father dead. 2nd Dec. 1846.  The marriage certificate establishes her maiden name as Cloke and fathers name as John Cloke. From census information she was born in 1810- 1811
And in 1881 she was again a widow living with her son George Cloke Stonham at  2 Trafalgar Cott, Hastings.
