Family History Beginners Board / Re: Evacuation records

In the late 1970s I taught in a village school in Northamptonshire. The school had not long before started a new admissions register. The previous one from the date the school opened was fascinating as some of the children could see their parents and other family members. In September 1939 there were two pages one headed Natives and the other headed Immigrants. The page headed Immigrants were the children evacuated from Coventry about 22 miles away!

The marriage in 1814 is to a Sarah Higgs. Both William and Sarah have been married before.

The actual image of the marriage is available on Ancestry and yes they did marry on 30 November 1802 and both William and Sarah signed the marriage register.

Her death in Abbassiyeh aged 1 in 1894 is recorded in the British Army and Deaths Index. Using the reference on the index you can obtain the death certificate from the GRO.

I think it is just a mistake Henry Fouldes was recorded in most things as born abt 1832 in Oxton Notts. There doesnt appear to be a Benjamin Fouldes in 1832 in Notts.

Id have a look for the children in 1871 and maybe Elizabeth is living with them.

Id didnt record the districts of birth of all the children but she did seem to move about a lot!

In 1862 a John Tipping aged 62 dies in Sheffield. Hes buried in St Thomas Cemetery Brightside see Sheffield Indexers.

In 1866 as Elizabeth Tipping she marries in Penistone!

Elizabeth Varlow was baptised on 30 April 1820 at St Peter Liverpooldaughter of Christopher and Jane Varlow. I think they are living in ? Frederick St and Christopher  is a Turner filer. Two years earlier a son Henry was born at that baptism Christopher is stated to be a mechanic. Henry died before Elizabeth was born.

In 1838 Elizabeth appears to have married a William Orrell in Bolton le Moors she states her father is Christopher Varlow. In the 1851 census she and William are living in Sheffield with 4 children. The eldest is called Christopher.

The children are Christopher Varlow 1839,Mary bat 1845,  Matilda 1848, William Henry 1850, Hannah 1852 and James William 1858. The father William dies in 1858.

Somehow Elizabeth now needs to marry and lose a husband called Tipping so she can then marry again!
