Hi Geogii_d

I don't know if there is any close connection. The whole family of John Knight left arbroath in the 1850s. Elizabeth knight John's sister was the only family member still in Arbroath. She remained a spinster and lived in Ladybridge street.

hi ev
Yes I've got a copy of his will. It gives his wife (Isabella Spink) tenancy for life. But she predeceased him so  I'm unsure who got the property. Its more confusing because he had been married twice previously ist to Nelly Littlejohn, then to Jean Allen and had children to all these partners some of whom get no mention in the will at all.
One of the children came to South Australia and ran a sheep property went bankrupt, moved to NSW ran another property married and went bankrupt again! can't find any more about him. Did he sell up and move out?

Hi ev,
Those dates tie in because John Johnston died in 1823. Its in the dates in between that I'm really interested. I wonder who had the house to sell to the Renny family?
Thanks for your input

Is anyone able to fill in some history about Jock's Lodge. I'm particularly interested in its early history, when owned by John Johnston, and the Johnston family, one of whom came out to South Australia. Any information greatly appreciated.
