Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Not recognising LORD surname in matches
« on: Monday 24 August 20 10:28 BST (UK)  »
I felt that is was hopeless, but the problem is still there. I pay $479 a year, after all. Certainly havenít answered the question about fixing the Ancestry messaging. Currently 54. I know otherís have the same problem. I have never written to them before, that I can remember.

I have just emailed Ancestry to report the problem with the surname not being recognised in  matches.

Same result with either separate surname only search :-[ or with  additional birth location. I wonder why it be a particular surname? It is not like it is happening generally? I did wonder if the changes overall were the reason? Obviously has had a change in the last 24 hours with longest segment now included.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Not recognising LORD surname in matches
« on: Thursday 20 August 20 03:05 BST (UK)  »
Many of my close family have kindly tested for me on Ancestry DNA. We have a prevelance of the surname LORD on our tree. I know in England this surname is particularly common in the counties of Yorkshire (as was) and Lancashire.

Yet when I type in surname Lane and birth location Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia I get multiple matches to the descendants of Charles Lane and Ann Lord! For those that have public trees LORD is written down the bottom as one of our in-common names.

I could pick before as to specifically Lordís in Yorkshire or Lancashire for my Tasmanian-UK connection. Now I get none.

I have checked with some Tassie related Lord descendants and they are also getting none, even though the matches still exist!

Thanks for that. Will read through later. Getting ready for work.

Thanks.  It is a bit clunky. Easy to message the wrong person too. Think it needs more function buttons. I wish there was a function to know if your message had been read or not.

The Common Room / Ancestry messaging problem
« on: Wednesday 29 July 20 23:18 BST (UK)  »
I have a problem with the Ancestry messaging system. The envelope icon on the toolbar says that I have 3 messages, yet there are no new ones. Nothing received via personal email either from Ancestry. Have contacted Ancestry via Feedback in new messaging system, but no reply back. Has anyone experienced similar?

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Ancestry removing matches less than 8cM

I have been baffled by one of my aunt's matches. It is a 5-8th cousin match, so estimated 5th-8th cousin 6cm across 1 segment, but with two shared matches!
One of the shared matches is 130cm across 6 segments and and the other is 30 across 1 segment.
Please explain Ancestry...

I have just found a Cockcroft Crabtree. That seems unfortunate ;)
