Thank you. It's a shame they didn't scribble the year on photos back in the day!

Hello,

I have two photographs of relatives and have no idea about the date of the photos other than maybe late 1920s to early 1930s, but I may be wrong.

Reverse side of 'photograph1' says:
"North Bay Snaps Ltd., Scarborough. Further copies can be obtained by quoting index letter and number on photograph."

Reverse side of 'photograph2' says:
Further copies enlargements & frames from "snaps", kodak supplies, bridlington".

Do the codes have any significance?

Thank you

Gloucestershire / Hailes Church, Gloucestershire
« on: Monday 14 December 20 17:19 GMT (UK)  »
As I understand, Hailes Church (chapelry in the parish of Didbrook) was built in the 1100s, but from various online sources, registers only begin in 1814. Would baptisms and marriages have taken place there from the 1100s without being recorded until 1814? Or were baptisms and marriages performed at St George's, Didbrook?
Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks.

The Common Room / Interfaith marriage

Hello all

Looking for a bit of insight or advice.

My ancestors married in 1835 at a CofE church. I have found the groom's baptism (CofE) but the only bride's baptism I can find is Catholic.

What is the likelihood of them marrying?

Would she have had to convert?

Did interfaith marriages happen in the Victorian times? And was there stigma?

Thanks very much

Hello,

Yes the 1841 census says she was born in Lancashire. One of their children was baptised at Prestwich in 1816, which is only over the other side of Heaton Park in Manchester, where 'Little Heaton' is.

Yes that's right. Mary was born before they married. in the 1851 census she's listed as Mary Jolley.

The marriage record I have is the church record which records both mothers and fathers of bride and groom.

I could order the GRO marriage cert to see if Ann's father is recorded
