Wicklow / Re: Arklow Cemetery Records Help
« on: Monday 24 November 08 12:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hello eadaoin,

Thank you for replying to my listing, it is very much appreciated. I have found loads of info on the site you mention, it has in the past answered a lot of my questions and Peggy has been very helpful. But info I am looking for, is that I have found some scraps of paper with the following on....
These are the details......

Grave number B56      New Cemetery
Interred in the Grave
James Flood on 18/07/1958
Mary Flood on 22/01/1961
These are the details......
Grave number 73 EE South  3 West     Old Cemetery
Bought by Edward Kelly
Interred in the grave are
Nannie Kelly on 26/03/1927
Thomas Kelly on 21/12/1931
Mary Kelly on 17/03/1945

Now if I could find out where the records for the cemeteries are kept, hopefully they may be able to give me the dates of death, so then I could obtain death certificates to find ages of these people.

Thank you again for replying, it is very much appreciated any advice.

Wicklow / Arklow Cemetery Records Help
« on: Friday 21 November 08 16:04 GMT (UK)  »
I have been trying to do my mums side of the family tree, for years and years without success. I have now come across some pieces of papers with info on, which has enabled me to obtain some certificates, which will give me pieces of jigsaw to do.
I have also got details of a couple of grave ref numbers, with some names, one for the old cemetery in Arklow, and one for the new one, and if I could possibly find out any dates of the people interred there it would enable me to get certificate of death, to help me on my way.
Does anyone know where the records for the cemeteries will be kept for Arklow, either giving me and address or e-mail address to contact please.
Thank you for taking the time to read my message.

Cheshire / Re: Rustidge Family of Mere, Cheshire

My Michael Rustidge married a Fanny Boond, now on the church record the person who married them entered his name as Michael Rustage, now Michael signed his name as Michael Rustidge.   Now Fanny could not read or write she signed her name with a X.
When it came time to take details for the census, if the enumerator called at the house to take the details for the census, and it was Fanny giving the information, as she gave the details the enumerator would spell the names as they sounded. So the surname could be one of many spellings.

I have found a number of mine as Rustidge and Rustage. Some of mine I found as Rustage, but on document it was Rustidge.

Think we just have to put it down to people not being able to read and write, in the early days.

The marriage was registered in Liverpool, September quarter of 1854 and the reference number is 8b 181.

Can be found on the freebmd site.

To find the details you need you would need to purchase the marriage certificate.
