I have been told of many Mare where Waana lay to rest, below is a list of information from reply emails to me. I am waiting to hear back from some of the Marae. If you have any luck please let me know.

Tirohia Marae which is near Paeroa

There is a photo of a Waana at Ngahutoitoi Marae Te Moananui Flats Paeroa.

There is not one at Tui Pa Marae Te Aroha but there may be another one at Pae Ahi Marae Waitoki located between Te Aroha and Paeroa SH26

I have had some more developments regarding your ancestor Waana.  Waana is also of Ngati Maniapoto descent and her marae there was at Mangatoatoa Marae.  This information was supplied by Whakawhiti Gage a kuia of Tangata marae.  Her husband was Waaka Gage.

According to the Native Land Court, Waana Pororua was part of a group that claimed land on behalf of the Ngati Kiri (Ngati Kiritaratara) a hapu of Raukawa.  These people were situated between Waikaeria and Mangatutu.  Ngati Kiri have ties with the marae named Rawhitiroa at Owairaka Valley.  You can download the details of Rawhitiroa marae from the Raukawa Trust Board website at www.raukawa.org.nz for more information about that marae.

I am currently obtaining information regarding Waana Pororua of Ngati Maniapoto from New Zealand, I have contacted a few marae and they are getting back to me in the new year.

I have one photo copy of Waana but would like a better quality image from a photo, my mother is an artist and would like to paint her.

I need any photos of the Gage family and any information also the Morice family Sarah and William, Emily their daughter had a child out of wedlock from whom I descend and would like to know more about William Morice of Opotiki and Sarah.

Happy to share the research I have done so far.
