Pembrokeshire Lookup Requests / Look Up request please, Terence Hanbury Jnr birth
« on: Friday 27 October 23 14:49 BST (UK)  »
 Fellow Rootschatters,

I'm in need of some assistance, if possible, to confirm Terence Hanbury Jr was born in the Pembroke Docks area between 1873-1875 but I've failed miserably. There just does not seem to be a record of a birth in this name anywhere in Wales as far as I can tell. I have an inkling that perhaps his birth may not have been registered but would have thought that a baptism would have taken place soon after his birth as the parents were both of the RC faith.

Info I already have

His father Terence Hanbury Snr was discharged from the army at Pembroke Docks in 1873, on his discharge document he states that he intends to stay in the area. TH senior was married in Dublin in 1871 to Mary Toole and they had a daughter Annie before marriage.

By 1875 the couple are back in Dublin where they have a second daughter, Catherine born that year.
My first confirmed sighting of TH Jr is on the Irish 1901 census where he states that he was born in Wales, lodging with the Duignam family and he married their daughter Mary later on in 1901 and died in 1909.

Any help, thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Regards

Hello CarolW,
Thank you for the reply.
Kathleen / Kitty was born 4th August 1917 in Rathclare and was my grandmother's niece. When she was age 28 and in service she gave birth to a daughter while still single. Father not recorded.
For some reason which I'm trying to establish her daughter was raised by my grandmother and I have inherited a couple of photos of both this girl and myself taken together as children as I also lived with my grandmother for at least 4 or 5 years.
I have a copy of her 1945 birth but as I'm not sure if she is still alive ( we lost touch in about 1965 ) I won't post her details on public forum. Kitty's birth entry is on the online Irish  database. I would love to learn more about Kitty after 1945, my thoughts are she may have emigrated or married.
Hope this clarifies.

 Hello fellow Roots chatters,

Hoping very much someone here has a family connection or knowledge of Kathleen (Kitty) Mullane daughter of Patrick Mullane and Mary Collins. Kitty was born in 1917 in Rathclare, Buttevant and worked as an unmarried house servant up until at least 1945 when she disappeared off my radar.
I have checked death and marriages after that time period using kathleen/ Catherine or Kate /Kitty but cannot positively identify which if any records might relate to her. Her fathers Mullane family also had a strong link to Doneraile if this is of any help.
I'm posting this in the hope that someone may have her on their family tree and offer thanks for any help or guidance.

Regards, Scatty

Have just come upon this thread with interest as I'm currently also trying to untangle several Hennessy lines who went to South Wales from Ireland around 1850's to work in the mining industry.
Mostly hailing from around the Myross district, Co Cork and in particular Doneraile town were "mine" came from.
My line worked  in Dowlais and Aberfan areas but after the father Daniel Hennessy died the mother and a couple of their sons went to Lackawanna, Pennslyvannia USA in 1886, again to work in mining while remaining family members stayed in Wales.
I thought I would post this up for consideration when looking for missing  Hennessy family members, maybe they  too followed suit and emigrated for work prospects.
Don't know if this may be relevant to original enquiry as I did not see the  details for the  Hennessy - Lyons  marriage but will be happy to help in any way if needed.

Best wishes all

This group photo I believe was taken circa 1929 to 1932 going by clothes worn. Another suggestion by family member is that it was taken in mid 1940s
I'm trying to determine if its my mother in group or her younger cousin, they have very similar looks.
Looking forward to hearing member views

Lola5,

Thank you for posting.

The Bennett line is a new one to me so early days, this is what I have so far but still subject to confirmation.
My g grandmother, Anne Egan 1854 was the daughter of Laurence Egan,1836 (to whom I have a confirmed DNA link) and Anne Bennett 1833 of Lusmagh. I'm still no further on with finding AE's birth record though should you come across her. She may even have been a sponsor for one of your family baptisms.
At this stage of my research I think that AB's parents were Martin Bennett and Esther Sullivan and that she had at least two sisters,Mary 1828 and Hanoria 1836.
I will most certainly investigate the other Bennett couple and family for the purpose of clarification one way or another.
Always happy to help if I can.
Best wishes,
 Scatty
