In the 1911 census index on ScotlandsPeople, George Claverhouse, aged 6, is living in Kirkfieldbank. There is an Agnes Murray in the same household.

There are three male Culverhouses in Scotland in the 1901 census old enough to have been the father.
Two are born in England, one in Lanarkshire.

Uriah Moses Culverhouse (born Hamilton) is in Kilmarnock and married with a family. However, his wife died in 1901 and he didn't remarry until 1907.

Eli Culverhouse is single, a hammerman, aged 34, boarding at 50 Cameron Street, Glasgow.

George Culverhouse is single, butler at the Scottish Conservative Club, 112 Princes Street, Edinburgh, aged 27.

G. M. Culverhouse's parents were not married. The mother may have been from Kirkfieldbank and was working as a domestic servant with/for/near any of these three suspects. The ScotlandsPeople index shows the child as Culverhouse and as Murray, so the mother's surname was Murray and the father must have either signed the register or his name was added later via the register of corrected entries.

The only Culverhouse born in Lanarkshire from 1900 - 1910 is George Culverhouse, born Kirkfieldbank 1904. Sounds like that's him.

You can access his birth certificate via ScotlandsPeople.

Perthshire / Re: John Stewart Married Grizel Farquahson 1822 Dull Perthshire.

Could his accent have confused the registrar with the names Farquharson and Ferguson ???

Quite possibly, if all the other details point to it being the correct John Stewart.

The way to be certain is to get the marriage certificate of Patrick Flynn and Margaret Stewart. They married in Perth in 1862.

Margaret died in Perth in 1901, aged 66.

Have you found his parents in the 1841 or 1851 census? If they died after 1854, there will be a statutory death certificate for them which will take you back a further generation.

One thing to note is that Grizel may appear later on as Grace, in the same way that Isabels turned into Isabellas in the course of the 19th century.

What are his parents' names and his father's occupation?

The 1911 census will give you another chance to see the parish of birth.

Could it be the Aberdeenshire parish of Kemnay?
