Thank you once again Cas, looks 99.9% her/ them. Unfortunately as far as I can see, there were 2 Ellen Jones born in 1891 in Newport.

Having looked back at my older posts on this family/ Brickyard rd, I see that Steve100 helped in the past with electoral rolls and I see that she was living there in 1938(no sign of Nellie). On free BMD I can’t find a death after this date so I assume she married after 1938. It’s amazing after all these years of looking that going over old stuff throws something up! This subject came up yesterday on Facebook memories, Phil.

Thank you Cas, how interesting. I was thinking she might be another daughter of Margaret who I believe was Nellies mother. I wonder how long they were in the workhouse and what happened to them both?, Phil.

Hi all, when the 1921 census came out I paid for a couple of one off look ups. One of George Jones Brickyard rd Newport born in 1885. Also at the address was a Gwenie Jones born in 1911. She is down as a great neice but I think she may have been a daughter of Margaret Jones. Apart from that I know nothing about her.

Ok, I’ve seen the obituary now. I somehow missed it. It seems that My relative made an assumption on his fathers father. He seemed to think his father was the illegitimate child of Margaret and one of the Newland family in Newport where she was a maid but as we’ve now seen on here his father was also John Charles Jones. I’ve looked on freebmd and seen there was a birth of that name in Newport in 1875. Can anyone expand on this please, Phil.

I can’t thank you all enough for your input. Fantastic to say the least. If I have a few holes to fill I hope you don’t mind me asking. On that subject there is (*) and what happened to her. Did she marry/ have children? Kind regards to you all, Phil.

Carole, his fathers name was John Charles Jones who later changed his surname to Newland-Jones. So trying John Joneses is not a walk in the park as it seems that most male members of my family shared that name.
