Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Smith Bridgend
« on: Tuesday 08 September 09 09:03 BST (UK)  »
I have only just discovered 3 new relations with the release of 1911 Census.
They are James Alfred Smith b 1902, Alice Mary Smith b 1905 and William Henry Smith b 1907. They were all born Bridgend and resided at 3 Nolton St where my grandfather had a Clothing business. My father Harry left home to join up WW1 and never  returned, so these people are unknown to me. Any further information on any of them would be greatly appreciated.

Breaking news on this one.....I have found the marriage of Thomas and Alice which took place in Liverpool in May 1858. Thomas is described as a Mariner and his father is.......yes Thomas Robinson and his occupation is Mariner (or  maybe it says Farmer?!!!) So Iam still looking for a Thomas Robinson from Shetland!

Hi Lauraine
Thanks for your response. A bit of a puzzle this guy. Maybe marine records will reveal more as you say. In later census' he is abt 13 years older than Alice so maybe another marriage is possible. One day I'll crack it!
thanks again

I am still looking for this info.
Leah and William were married in Hoggeston Bucks 2 Aug 1827. William is described as 'of Christchurch'.
By 1851 Leah is a widow and living in Somerstown.
Their eldest child William Wells Nelson was born Nov 1828 in Christchurch Greyfriars Newgate area. He died age 4.
There seems to be only one other child Jennett Ann Nelson born 1830. She married young in 1849 and her father William was desceased by then. They seem to be fairly well off and I wonder whether William was much older than Leah but that is pure conjecture.
