Somerset / TAYLOR and BLACKMORE in Stoke sub Hamdon
« on: Wednesday 20 April 11 13:53 BST (UK)  »
I am researching my gggrandfather, Joseph Taylor (glover), born May 18, 1800 and baptized Dec. 13,1803 in St. Mary the Virgin parish church in Stoke sub Hamdon to parents William and Mary Taylor.
He married Rebecca Blackmore on Nov. 14, 1822 by banns in St. Mary the Virgin and worked as a glover.
I can find 3 of their 4 daughters baptized there before they arrived in Jersey City, NJ
in 1830 where my great grandfather, James Blackmore Taylor, was born May 25, 1830.  They then moved to Canada where Joseph died in 1832 and Rebecca remarried.  A family historian says that Rebecca was born in Stoke sub Hamdon on Feb. 6, 1801 but I have not been able to find any proof or record of that.   She is buried in the Niagara region of Canada.

Somerset / TAYLOR in Martock and Stoke sub Hamdon
« on: Wednesday 20 April 11 13:44 BST (UK)  »
I am researching my ggg grandfather, William Taylor, who lived as a glover in Stoke sub Hamdon.  He was married at St. Mary the Virgin parish church to my ggggrandmother, Mary Naish, Nov. 23, 1790 and they baptized their children there, as well.
He died October 11, 1858, age 88, in Stoke sub Hamdon and was buried 17th Oct. same year.
I would like to know if this is the same William Taylor who was baptized on Dec. 24, 1769 in All Saints Church, Martock.  Any info on that family or the Naish or Blackmore families would also be appreciated.

I, too, am researching the Blackmore family of Stoke sub Hamdon, Somerset.  My gggrandmother, Rebecca Blackmore married my gggrandfather, Joseph Taylor on Nov. 14, 1822 at St. Mary the Virgin, Stoke sub Hamdon....the same day that Joseph Blackmore, son of James and Mary Blackmore was baptized.
