I am researching my gggrandfather, Joseph Taylor (glover), born May 18, 1800 and baptized Dec. 13,1803 in St. Mary the Virgin parish church in Stoke sub Hamdon to parents William and Mary Taylor.
He married Rebecca Blackmore on Nov. 14, 1822 by banns in St. Mary the Virgin and worked as a glover.
I can find 3 of their 4 daughters baptized there before they arrived in Jersey City, NJ
in 1830 where my great grandfather, James Blackmore Taylor, was born May 25, 1830. They then moved to Canada where Joseph died in 1832 and Rebecca remarried. A family historian says that Rebecca was born in Stoke sub Hamdon on Feb. 6, 1801 but I have not been able to find any proof or record of that. She is buried in the Niagara region of Canada.
