London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / LAW(U)RA(E)NCE
« on: Sunday 24 July 11 05:35 BST (UK)  »
I have a Joseph James LAWRANCE b. 1832 (navel records) his father is Jacob LAWRANCE (marriage of Joseph to Emma Jane CAVE ) it also states Jacob is a baker sks on one of the mailing lists I belong to found a record of baptism with Jacob and Jane LAWRENCE  as parents and also succeeded in finding a marriage of Jacob LAWRANCE to Jane GOUGH in st martin in the Field, also found baptisms for Jacob and 2 other siblings with the same parents as listed on that marriage certificate. and a census record for Jacob and Jane with a daughter Jane in 1851, my Joseph was already at sea by 1851 my request is I think i have narrowed down 2 possibilities to make sure my Joseph James belongs with this Jacob and Jane, his birth was in Twickenham and the marriage was in Marylebone is it possible that some one has access to 1841 census for either of these areas that may be able to help me out in seeing if Joseph is listed as I am told Jacob could also be listed as James and so if James is a baker and has a son Joseph or maybe James as he listed himself that way on the 1871 and 1881 census'. Thank you for any help.

Waterford / Re: Games keeper in Curraghmore Estate c.1909.

Hi
Was just wondering if there was such a think as an index of games keepers, as they traveled so much it makes it hard to pin down ancestors and I don't know it it is usual but it seemed to run in this family as I believe the father was also a games keeper.

Thanks to you both I don't know why I never thought of two marriages before. I will start with a certificate on one of the 2 older boys and see if I get a name from there. Thanks again. ;D

Hi I am not new to genealogy but I am new to this forum. I am in Canada and most of my research is in England I am on a limited budget and have used most of the free things available out there but it seems I have reached a dead end on what I can get my hands on of the free things available. This is the line I have constantly had the worst trouble with so I am not sure how far any one will be able to help me with. What I have that I know Thomas GOSS (may have been a games keeper) lived in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire with wife Sarah as the had a son James b. 1837 sometime before BMD registration. I have gotten information on the 1871 Census showing James a gameskeeper with wife Sarah 2 yr older b. Uttoxeter in Brockhampton with sons Thomas 2 and William 1 both b. Norbury, I have also a 1881 Census with then in Leigh with her now 8 yr younger and now b. Cheshire, Thomas 12 William 11 still b. Norbury and James 3. They immigrated to Canada sometime after the birth of their son Joseph b. 1881 after census I have a British Columbia census 1901 with them all there in 1891 they were all in Alberta as the three younger children were born in Jumping pond Alberta. Sarah the younger was BOWERS as I have her death registration and she went by Sarah Harriet I have found a birth 1848 in Cheshire to Edward and Sarah BOWER. Sarah and James GOSS both died in Ashcroft, BC Canada. I just can't seem to find anything backwards and have no marriage records if you can help me with a census record with him with his parents maybe in 1841. or any one may be able to dig up a marriage registration for James and Sarah would be greatly appreciated. Thanks  :)
