Hi Mike

It has been a while since I have done any research, been on the back burner while life took over.  :)
Had a look in my data file and I have Martha and Thomas marrying on July 4th 1848 in Lamberton Toll. Was sure I had some notes about it too but can't put my hands on them at the moment everything is packed up ready for a move.

The house in question was built around 1890 and is an original building. Before they will allow us to demolish it and rebuild they want a heritage archive done.

Have looked at the Trove site but am finding it difficult to find my way around searching.

Hi all

Been a while since i have done any research but have got back into it ..... sort of. At the moment i have been asked by the local council to research my house so i can get something put in the archives. I have a copy of the certificate of titles but not sure what i can do next.
I live in the Lake Macquarie Council area in New South Wales Australia.
Any suggestions i can get would be appreciated.....online if possible.

Thanks

Australia Lookups completed / Re: Newspaper Lookup

Hi Helen

Sorry no connection. My John George Hall and his brothers were all born in Warwickshire to George and Ann. My lot of Halls didn't arrive in Australia until around 1920.

Australia / Will Copy - Victoria
« on: Sunday 30 September 07 05:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Is it possible for someone with access to the Victorian probate index to check if there is an entry for a Isabella Grant who died in 1916 or a Peter Grant who died in 1911. Have a vague feeling that a relative told me that one of these people made a will but am not sure. If there is an entry could someone tell me how to go about ordering a copy of the will sent to me...... I live a couple of hours north of Sydney and its a bit of a drive to Victoria  :)

Any information would be appreciated.

In my family my paternal grandfather was born in 1864 and I was born in 1969.......a gap of 104 years. But then that side seemed to start having kids relatively late.

The Common Room / Re: Contacting Distant non-researching relatives

Hi TN

Using a death notice of a great uncle i discovered a living descendant and contacted them. I explained who I was, how I was linked to them and what I was doing and included a basic family group sheet and asked them if they wouldn't mind filling in some blanks for me in the information I had for that family. I also sent a stamped self addressed envelope and left it up to them to respond.

I got lucky and the person responded by completing the information for me and sending me a couple of photos of my grandmother and her sisters.

You never know unless you try.
