Thanks for that.

James Arnott (1810) appears on the 1861 census in Lambeth, London but no where else. I struggled to find a birth date for my Grandad Arnott but found that his mother, who couldn't read or write, had inadvertantly allowed his birth certificate to state Arnett as his / her surname.

I think James had siblings. Where do I go now? Should I send for the cd from Bucks FHS?

I live in SE Kent but a weekend trip to Long Crendon would  be a nice idea. I'll also join Bucks FHS, cant hurt can it?

I'm fairly new to this fascinating pastime.

My interest would be in James (1810). He appears on the 1860 census in Lambeth aged 51. How can I find out more about him?

I note there is an Arnott's yard in Long Crendon.
