... Then there was a John Warden born 1729 in Barony to a John Warden & Janet Petticrew. … This John was in General Whilemans Regiment, Janet was from Dounward Riddarie…………

I found a map that had Riddrie on it:

https://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/maps/sheet/new_pop/178_072

Unfortunately, I couldn't provide you with a zoomed-in portion.   Zoom into the giant word "Glasgow" then pan right and up a bit, look for Hogganfield Loch.  Riddrie is on the Monkland Canal, just down a bit and left of the Loch.  It was in Barony Parish.

https://www.michigan.gov/libraryofmichigan/public/michigan/bibs/michigan-vital-records-guide

1867, Public Act 194: "An Act to Provide for the registration of births, marriages and  deaths." This was Michigan's first vital records registration law. Each township or city had to take an "annual assessment by actual inquiry or otherwise, of the inhabitants thereof, the births and deaths…."

1897,  Public Act 217: Provided for the registration of deaths and the issuing of death certificates that began in 1898.

Michiganology.org contains searchable certificates for 1897-1939 and indexing through 1952.

Ancestry.com has a database:  Michigan, U.S., Death Records, 1867-1952

At the Ancestry database, there was no entry for an Alexander MacDonald d. 1874.  The only one in Jackson Co. was Alexander Mc Donald, b. 1841, d. 4 Jul 1873.

They are all deceased and yes that is the correct Joseph but not the correct parents, I think he was stainslows brother that is what I am trying to prove. I found one document on my heritage where stainslow listed Joseph and its the only one I can find. With no subscription I can't see the 9ther siblings. Sadly I am poor. So just seeing what others know. Also chalrses was not Mary's son, he was one of the daughters. I think anna. So obviously family secrets and such but sifting through has been a challenge. Just want to verify Joseph h golbas parents.

I suggest you contact one or more of the users, at this next link, with your questions.  They contributed to the family tree of Joseph Golba, held at Familysearch:

They might have more detailed info about the relationship betweeen Stanislaw and Joseph.

You can send them a message through Familysearch, by clicking on their usernames.  A registration to Familysearch is free.

Here is the detail page for Joseph:

Possible help with your research:

In the 1930 and 1940 census, Charles is listed as a son of Joseph, as is also stated on Charles' death certificate.  The censuses cannot  confirm that Mary was his mother, although it is so stated on the same death certificate.  The person who gave that info was Charles' wife.

His birthday is listed differently on diff documents, on his tomb stone it says March 1881 but in polish records it was in march 1879. I can't find any other siblings he supposedly had a lot, or his parents.

You say you haven't found anything on your gggrandfather Joseph, but you know his birthyear from his tombstone.  In what cemetery or city is the tombstone?

March 1881 fits the death record for Joseph Golba of the Chicago area, about whom I posted on page 1 of this thread:

At Familysearch.org, I found the following records for that Joseph Golba of Cook County, Illinois.  These are free records so you can see them yourself.

United States World War II Draft Registration Cards, 1942
Name    Joseph Golba
Registration Date:    1942
Residence:  14738 Wood Street, Harvey, Cook County, Illinois.
Birth Date:    19 Mar 1879
Birthplace:  Makuw, Poland

Illinois, Cook County Deaths
Name    Joseph Golba
Event Type    Death
Event Date    29 Dec 1959
Event Place    Harvey, Cook County, Illinois, United States
Address    14738 Wood Street
Age    78
Marital Status    Married
Occupation    Laborer
Birth Date    19 Mar 1881
Birthplace    , , Poland
Funeral Home    The Olen Mortuary
Burial Place    Calumet City, , Illinois
Cemetery    Holy Cross
Father's Name    Stanley Golba
Mother's Name    Eva
Spouse's Name    Mary Golba
Informant's Name    Mary Golba

You can see from this death record that his parents were Stanley and Eva, and his wife was Mary.

Thank you.  That is a very impressive and informative website.

No Pettigrew or variant found there.

England / Oliver Cromwell's army - is there a list of officers and soldiers?
« on: Tuesday 09 February 21 19:54 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know of an online resource with a list of who served in Cromwell's army?

This would have been during the English Civil War, 1642-46.

I am specifically interested in finding a James Petigru or Pettigrew, or some variant thereof.

Family lore says James served as an officer in Cromwell's army.  Whether he served as an Englishman, a Scot, or other, I don't know.

"A Scottish army crossed the Tweed in January 1644 at the behest of the English parliament and, for the next three years, Scots and English would fight alongside one another as allies. "

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Armagh / What was full age in civil registration marriage records?
« on: Monday 12 October 20 14:31 BST (UK)  »
I saw an 1853 civil registration marriage record where the groom was of full age but the bride was listed as a minor.

What was the legal "full age" in that time period?  Was "full age" a different age for men and for women?

Thanks for your help.

Thank you.  That is very helpful.  I see that Knockrevan/Ravenhill is an adjacent townland to Mowillin.
